Will Citi Executive AA Authorized Users Be Given To Access Admirals Club Lounges?

Update: This new benefit has now been confirmed by Citi. Here is the e-mail they sent me:

Wanted to reach out to apprise you of some really exciting news regarding our Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard: we’ve just extended Admirals Club lounge access to authorized users, even when they’re traveling alone. We’re really excited about this benefit to enhance the travel experience for our cardmembers and hope they are just as thrilled!

One of the primary benefits of the Citi Executive American Airlines card is that it grants the primary cardholder to Admirals Clubs. Here is what the benefits page says:

Either immediate family members (spouse or domestic partner and children under eighteen (18) years of age) or up to two (2) guests traveling with the primary cardmember may be admitted for free as guests when accompanied by the primary cardmember

According to two Flyertalk posters authorized users will now also get access to Admirals Club lounges, even when they are not with the primary cardholder. This only includes Admirals Clubs and not World Lounges.

I asked @askciti to confirm these changes and you can view that exchange below:

I’ve generally found Citi’s Twitter team to be generally clueless, so I actually have more faith that the two Flyertalk posters that spoke to a phone representative are correct. I would expect that authorized users won’t have the same guest privileges (e.g it might only grant them access for themselves).

I’m sure we’ll have more information if this is true over the coming days, for now I’d recommend checking back here or on the before mentioned flyertalk thread.

  • I rather doubt it. Then again so few people at Citi can be expected to know how their credit cards work with AA, who knows.

My understanding is that AUs on the Executive do NOT have an Admiral's club logo on the back. Has this changed?

    • Don't think it has changed, but I imagine it will now it's been confirmed that they will have access to Admirals Club lounges.
