Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
First class checking account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find an early account termination in the fee schedule
$50 Referral Bonus
There is also a $50 referral bonus for both parties. Last time Wings Financial offered a bonus the referral bonus and the main bonus stacked. Do not share your referrals in the comments below, you can share them in this linked posted instead.
Our Verdict
We’ve seen a $300 + $50 bonus in the past, but that required a direct deposit. This is a smaller bonus but without the direct deposit so some people might prefer this bonus. Keep in mind it is a hard pull as well, but we will still be adding this to our list of the best checking bonuses.
The best CD is 14 months, this offers a 3.25% rate. The bonus is relatively small though and with rates rising I don’t think it’s worth doing.

Not worth a hard pull. There are too many credit card offers worth $500+ to even consider this. I don't get the appeal.
Applied and denied today, by email. I'm yeehaw/24 so not surprised. Applied earlier for the USB Leverage card and was hoping to combine HPs, but Wings pulled Experian and USB pulled Transunion. Welp.
Are hard pulls from different institutions ever combined? I've never heard of that.
@guest_1483444 no they don't. The guy is misunderstanding.
No.
You can't churn this bonus. It says that if you received a bonus in the past ever, not within the last 12 months bot ever, you can't be eligible.
I got a hard pull from this stupid credit union
very high credit score
just to be denied
Their person called me.. and I kept trying to call them back.. and then just denied
wasted hard pull.. in short fuck Wings
Failed DP
7/2 - Opened
7/19 - Cap1 $60X transfer
7/26 - Cap 1 $60X transfer
Met the 5 $25 debit card transactions and eStatements.
Should've done another transfer in August and September. Oh well. Hopefully they keep the new customer requirements the same so I can give it another go in a year or so.
Also had bonus pay today, did not have DD, simply the $2k balance (plus eDocs and debit spend)
DP from Pennsylvania. I took the "...and have active recurring direct deposit...at time of the promotional payment (10/1/22)" part of the terms seriously and set up a recurring transfer to ensure that this requirement was met, even though I usually kept $2000+ in the account:
07/21/2022: Account opened.
07/22/2022: Opening transfer of $100 (from Ally) posts.
07/28/2022: Transfer of $2500 (from Ally to Wings) posts. Coded as "ALLY BANK P2P".
08/25/2022: Transfer of $605 (from Fidelity CMA to Wings) posts. Coded as "FID BKG SVC LLC MONEYLINE".
09/13/2022-09/22/2022: 13 debit card purchases made, 8 of which were $25+.
09/23/2022: Transfer of $605 (from Fidelity CMA to Wings) posts. Coded as "FID BKG SVC LLC MONEYLINE".
09/29/2022: "JULY NEW MEMBER BONUS-CHECKING" of $200 posts.
Wings FCU sent an email to me indicating that I received the bonus as well. Thanks, Doc.
$100 Wings visa GC came today, I assume related to signing up using a referral link?
Did you receive it through email or physical?
You cannot churn this time around. Before you could, though they gave me a hard time paying the bonus because I had received one in the past but their T&C did allow that at that time. Now they don't. So, don't even think of applying if you have received a bonus in the past, they have made it very clear this time, it's one in a lifetime.
bonus is once per lifetime? does it specifically say that in the terms to make it a lifetime?
fineprint says you can
New members and new recipients only: 1) Cannot have been a previous member (owner of a Primary Share account) of Wings Financial Credit Union in the last 12 months; 2) Cannot have previously received a new account bonus offer.
It says "2) Cannot have previously received a new account bonus offer." That's pretty clear, no?
You answered yourself, it says: ; 2) Cannot have previously received a new account bonus offer. That means, you cannot be eligible if you EVER received a bonus in the past
It's not in the T&Cs but their system doesn't play nicely if you try to open a new account online after having previously been a customer. I did my first in dec 2019 and then opened my second one last july in branch and it was a total PITA. took 40+ minutes because of the old account causing problems in the system.
I imagine that any second-time applications will fail online and require a physical visit, where a banker can just tell you to get lost. YMMV though. HF;GL
