Yelp Launches Credit/Debit Card Linked Rewards Program – Get Up To 10% Cash Back

[Update 10/20/20: Program ending on October 31, 2020.]

Yelp has launched a new cash back program that lets you link debit and credit cards and earn cash back at thousands of participating restaurants when you use a linked card.

Unfortunately this is not a new program at all, it looks like it’s just a white labeling of Empyr (aka Mogl) according to the official Yelp blogpost. This is also used by LivingSocial’s Plus Restaurants. Although it’s weird in that all three programs have different restaurants in their list – although you can’t stack if a restaurant appears in more than one (you can only link each card with one of the programs).

This is a different network than Rewards Network (used by all the airline & hotel restaurant programs) so you should be able to stack those without issue. Card linked rewards programs are all the rage at the moment, Chuck put together this list to help you navigate them.

  • Get the exact same stores/percentage if you are a member of dosh without having to sign up for a new program.

  • Mogl has jackpots where each month, the top 3 reward winners at each restaurant get a bonus. Do the Yelp/LivingSocial/Swagbucks versions of the program have that bonus?

Hmm, they do? I don't use LivingSocial, but I do use Swagbucks Local for my Empyr network dining rewards and I see exactly the same list of participating restaurants in my area on both Yelp and SB Local. All 100+ of them, down to the letter. Hell, even the CB rate variations seemed the same (i.e. all restaurants that give 7% CB in Yelp also give 7x SB, and the occasional 10% CB restaurant in Yelp also gives 10x SB in SBL). Needless to say, I'd much rather have the SB.

And I also agree with the above posters in that most of the restaurants on my Empyr list also participate in RN, which means double dipping.

    • Yeah, I just got a card registered, and it's all the same places I see on Mogl, except for a few that Mogl added recently.

Maybe the good news, now that Yelp and Swagbucks are partners, is that Mogl could actually get around to expanding their roster at a faster rate. They're still well short of RN, although I'm starting to see better places on Mogl

    • I guess it varies by location, but there isn't overlap in some locations between this and normal Mogl

  • If you are already signed up for Mogl, can you sign up for this with the same card and mantain membership in Mogl and this? Or is this like RN wherein you can only elect to participate in one RN program at a time.
