Update 8/2/19: Looks like this is actually 40% only this time and valid until 10/01/19.
Update 8/1/19: This is showing up again
The Offer
Direct link to offer (need to be logged in)
- You can currently receive a 40% transfer bonus when you transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to British Airways Avios. Normally you can transfer 1,000 MR points and receive 1,000 Avios, during this promotion you’ll receive 1,400 or 1,500 Avios instead (1:1.5)
The Fine Print
- No end date listed, but it does say ‘If you return to redeem points later, this offer may no longer be available’
Our Verdict
Keep in mind this is one of the transfer bonuses were it will likely only show up once, so don’t navigate to the transfer page until you’re ready to transfer if interested in this bonus. A history of Avios transfer bonuses can be seen below:

- June 1, 2011 – July 31, 2011: 50%
- February 2, 2011 – March 31, 2011: 40%
- November 2, 2010 – December 31, 2010: 30%

As you can see 50% is as good as it gets, so if you’re interested I’d do the transfer sooner rather than later. For a full list of all transfer bonuses click here.

It's not just BA...I have the same bonus for Aer Lingus and Iberia.
of course i just transferred 65k points to ba 2 days ago and i have the 1.4 offer. missed out on 18k. thanks amex.
Any thoughts as to whether this is of a real value? I have 50K AMEX points -- could this be worth a lot more as 70K BA miles? (I have the 40% offer)
I like these a lot for AA short haul flights, though those went up a little in the most recent deval. At 40% I feel safe transferring some to replenish my account even with no specific flights in mind, as I will definitely use them in the future. Worse comes to worse I can use them at hotels also.
hello. speaking from personal experience yes this is of value, although in my situation i bought JAL tickets through the BA website using avios. with the promotion the ticket ended up being cheaper than going directly through JAL and the surcharge was not a crazy amount. i have never bought BA tickets so i can not speak about that.
It depends where and when you want to fly. Probably not a good idea if you have no plans -- the Avios could be devalued. If you do have plans, see what award flights are available on ba.com. I think you have to have a BA frequent flyer account to look for award flights, but of course you'd need one to do the transfer.
I have the BA Avios 1000:1400 transfer again. Also a similar transfer bonus for Aer Lingus and probably Iberia (it looks odd but when I click on it, it says there is a 40% bonus). Guess it makes sense, given that you can transfer between the programs.
Had the offer on both mine and DW, I like to keep my MR stash as close to zero as possible so deals like this are excellent for sweeping.
Reason to keep them at zero?
With all the claw backs and shut downs I am also afraid of stashing MR points. It's earn and burn for me.
I am seeing "Special Offer: Get 40% more Avios when you transfer Membership Rewards points through 10/1/19. See Special Offer Terms" after logging in through the link
I was trying to transfer AMEX points to BA but clicked on the offer and it wouldn't open but showed it was loading. I didn't want to refresh the page as I might lose the offer so I tried chat and they referred me to "offer team" at 800-528-4800. Their person was able to quickly transfer the points with the 40% promotion without much ado.
I can see the offer when I navigate through "explore you rewards" and the offer is in "special promotion for you", expires 10/01/19 @will
The August one seems a public offer at 40% bonus and with a promo end date of October 1. Anybody can see 50% boost offer?
1:1.4 through October 1st for me
