Update: Some people have a 50% offer.
The Offer
- American Express is offering a 40% transfer bonus when you transfer your Membership Rewards points to JetBlue. These points usually transfer 250:200. Under this promotion they transfer at 250:280
The Fine Print
- No end date listed, but it does say ‘If you return to redeem points later, this offer may no longer be available’
Our Verdict
Keep in mind this offer will likely disappear after viewing it once, so only navigate to the page if you’re sure you want to transfer. American Express seems to be doing this sort of thing more commonly, I’m not a big fan because I like to think about my decisions before making them but I guess American Express is trying to get people to transfer without hesitation.
American Express has offered the following past transfer bonuses to JetBlue:
- August 1st – October 1st, 2018: 25% bonus [targeted]
- February 26th – March 25th, 2018: 10-30% bonus [targeted]
- November 1st – November 31st, 2017: 25% bonus
- May 1st – May 31st, 2017: 25% bonus
- August 15th – September 15th, 2014: 25% bonus
- June 12th, 2012 – June 17th, 2012: 30% bonus
As you can see 40% is one of the strong offers, although mint flights have been devalued recently. You can view a full list of current and previous American Express bonuses from all travel partners by clicking here.

I would have done the for 40% extra but not targeted. They know who they want...
And all this assumes you want to fly on an airline with the most delays in 2 out of the first 3 months of this year according to the DOT (in February they managed to finish 2nd to last). As far as cancellations go, JetBlue is up there again with the most of any major carrier. Why anyone would want to take a chance and travel with them is beyond me.
JetBlue is my go-to. I'm 6'4 and can actually fit in economy. I've never had a late JB flight, statistically its still rare.
Many reasons people choose them. More legroom in economy than any of the major airlines. DirecTV included on every flight. Free Wifi on every plane. Free branded snacks and drinks. Service that is (in my opinion and that of many others) far more consistently friendly and welcoming than service on other US airlines. Plus Mint is the best domestic biz class seat you will find. So yeah, lots of reasons people pick Jetblue.
Yes, if you are going somewhere and it is no big deal if you get there 6 hours or a day or 2 late. I don't disagree with anything you said about their great service but to me the most important thing in an airline is getting you there at the time they say they will, on the day you are supposed to get there. I can bring my own entertainment, I can live without a drink or snack for 3 hours and i can live with being cramped - but I can't do anything if the airline consistently is late or cancels my flight and puts me on a flight 2 days later.
Your annoying. Did you have 1 incident or something and now you bash them? I'm always flying jetblue and never had an incident. Even if i did they seem to be a company that would make it right.
YMMV I guess but I've been on at least 30 Jet Blue flights within the past 10 or so years and only twice have they been really delayed(1+ hrs). They also give you credit most of the time for the delay if its their own error which most Airlines don't even bother doing. Overall most casual travelers most likely won't have a problem with them.
A hint of an upcoming devaluation?
Not really worth it. Sure, its a 40% bonus, which sounds great, but the transfer rate, even with that 40% bonus is really just 1 MR becomes 1.12 True Blue points. Chase always offers 1:1 so its just 12% higher transfer rate than you can always get via Chase (and even that is hardly ever worth it). Maybe if you really need to top off your True Blue account, but otherwise, this is not something to jump on and isn't really worthwhile.
I have a 50% transfer bonus (250:300).
Meh... 250:200 is terrible to begin with. 40% bonus only makes it OK. I won't make an impulse transfer based on this.
But not for HH points to be transferred?
