The Fine Print

Our Verdict
I imagine this will be a fairly easy offer to meet the requirements for for many readers. So far I’ve only seen this on the Aviator business mastercard, but hopefully it’s available on other Barclays credit cards as well.

10/20 Filed CFPB complaint
10/27 Credit issued
I didn't receive any contact that Barclays had taken action. I was curious and checked the account on my own.
Per my request in the CFPB compaint, Barclays closed the account and removed the annual fee, interest, and late fees. I requested a check for the $20 credit balance.
UPDATE: Received email that the case was resolved. Elapsed time was 9 business days. There is a phone number at the end, which may be useful.
Dear lorem ipsum:
I have received correspondence forwarded to Barclays Bank Delaware (‘Barclays’) from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I understand your concerns regarding the promotion offered to you to earn a $20 statement credit after placing3 orders with specific vendors. I will detail the results of my investigation below.
We have fully investigated this matter and confirmed you did meet the requirements to earn the $20 statement credit. Regrettably, due to an internal error, this adjustment was not posted. Customer service is very important to us and I regret your expectations were not met. We have credited your account for the original promotional credit earned of $20. This adjustment will be reflected on your next billing statement. Additionally, you requested your account to be closed. We have processed your request, andhave removed all fees, interest charges, and the annual fee, totaling $135.88. We have issued a refund check for $20 to be mailed tothe address on file, whichyou should receive in the next 7 to 10 business days.
Customer service is very important to us. I regret your expectations were not met and any inconvenience this matter may have caused you.If you have any questions, please contact us at 866-750-6031, ext. 53425. Our office hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm ET Monday through Friday.
Never thought I’d see the day, $20 statement credit posted a couple days after filing a cfpb complaint. Think I’ll be put on Barclays naughty list?
Whoever files the next complaint, let them know the reps are telling us nobody's gotten the credit, and maybe they'll get everyone the credit at once....
My AF just came due. I'm going to cancel the card. How do I get my $20? It's been 4.5 months.
I actually went ahead and filed a CFPB complaint for $20 (yes, $20). They posted the credit 10 days after I submitted the complaint. For those itching to get your justice, you can try this route. This was actually for 2 cards so we are looking at $40 here :)
Four months later, no credit lol.
Still no credit, despite meeting the requirement June 17. My annual fee was charged 7/31, but I did not pay it because I have no intention of renewing (and I did not get a retention offer anyway). When I called about this about a month ago, the agent suggested I pay the annual fee, then cancel the card when the credit finally comes through. Yeah, right. My statement closed Sept 28, and I was charged interest and a late fee. Way to go, Barclays!
Interest and late fee is on you. The agent told you what you already knew, you should pay the AF or close the card. Not not-pay and not-close....
Another update from a CSR after waiting the 7-10 business days after which I should have received the credit. Apparently my case was reviewed and my name was added to a list including "many" others for this uber eats deal. No ETA on when the credit will arrive, me and everyone else on said list will just have to continue "waiting on the bank".
The incompetence is palpable.
Called and they told me that the credit should show up when my next statement cuts, since that would be my first statement after 6-8 weeks following the end of the promotion. I expressed doubt that would happen and asked if they could go ahead and request the credit be added so I wouldn't have to call back when the next statement generated and the credit still wasn't there. The agent did so, and said it should appear in 7-10 business days. Like others, I'll see if that actually happens.
Statement was cut on 9/15/20 and no credit here
Told the same thing, my statement cuts in a week, so I'll wait and see.
Yep, nothing here. Called week of 9/11, 9/25, and today, 10/8. Ticket is there, escalated, not updated. But, I do have some random 3800 bonus points posted on the last statement... No idea what that's supposed to be, I didn't ask.
According to a supervisor, they have realized the aviator cards did not receive the credits and they are going through the accounts and applying the credits manually. This just started, and we should see them in 7-10 business days ...
I'll believe that when I see it.
Same. CSR said I'm "on the list" and will need to wait in line for a manual review. Been waiting for over a month. I ended up canceling.
FYI, I presume your "random 3800 bonus points" might be from the 5% annual bonus, most likely?
Hah! I'd forgotten about that. Thanks. That looks like it's about 30 miles 76000 is probably close to my annual earning including SUB.
5% AAdvantage® mileage bonus earned every year after your account anniversary date based on the total number of miles earned using your card.
Okay, so ... I called again today. Per today's supervisor, nobody has received the credits, they're receiving numerous calls about this, and there is no time frame for a resolution.
As this is now the 2nd escalation to a supervisor, I asked if she was able to issue the credit and she said they in customer service do not have that ability. And they don't have anybody to escalate to that can.
Note it has already been escalated, and my case also escalated to a supervisor previously. So you might not get this on your first calls, but it turns out customer service can grant miles. I don't remember how it came up exactly, but was offered 1000 miles. I said that they're worth about a penny each, so if she made it 2000, I'd consider the matter closed, and she said she could do that. Yea, it's not as good as cash, but it's also not worth my time to have to call a 5th time and be subjected to the awful hold music again.
And, now I can close it next week.
Upon closing, was told I would forfeit any rewards that have not already posted. Not sure if that's the statement credit or the miles. If I get neither credit nor the promised miles, I'll file an official complaint.... so to be sure, if you're going to go for miles from a rep instead of the $20, do it before your second-to-last statement closes.
My statement cut back on 9/8 & nothing.
Called an agent and had to get the credit manually applied within 7-10 business days. Look forward to calling for another update on the 11th business day.
No credit yet. It's been almost 11 weeks since the end of the promo, well beyond the 8 weeks stated. I called, and the agent said she'd put in a request for the credit. My AF is due 9/15. This is Barclays, so....
Likewise no credit for me here as of 9/3.
