[YMMV] Bilt Mastercard: Signup & Get 5x Points Per Dollar For First 5 Days

Update 8/11/23: FM is saying that this signup bonus is now official. (We still don’t see it showing on the official landing pages.)  Update from FM: it’s targeted and not official  and isn’t being sent to everyone

The Offer

Readers share an offer they received immediately after signing up for the Bilt Rewards Mastercard:

  • For 5 days from the date this email was sent, you will earn a total of 5 rewards points, (1 base point plus 4 bonus points), per $1 spent on net purchases (excluding rent).

You should receive the email offer on the day that your physical card is delivered.

The Fine Print

  • Max 50,000 bonus points, regardless of how much you spend.
  • You must make at least 5 posted transactions in a statement period using your Bilt Mastercard to earn points, including bonus points for this promotional offer.
  • Full terms at this link

Our Verdict

Bilt Rewards Mastercard does not offer any ordinary signup bonus on their card. This spend bonus is nice bonus for someone who can spend a lot quickly. If you are spending in ordinary non-category  purchases, this will be maxed out with $12,500 in spend.

Separately, you can also have a friend refer you to the Bilt Mastercard and your friend will get 2,500 bonus Bilt points.

Just a word of caution that Bilt actively monitors for manufactured spending. This offer is useful for organic large spend that you may have.

  • I got this offer by SMS and email the day my card arrived, despite having added the card to my Apple Wallet and used it several times already.

  • When I signed up last year the "SUB" was higher, I think 10x, but it wasn't mentioned at signup and they only informed me of it by paper while I was out of town, so I missed it entirely. Wonder why they've changed their minds on advertising it?

Anyway, 15 months in, card's been working fine for rent. Annoyed that dining was 4x when I signed up and downgraded to 3x shortly after, though. I suspect it'll go the way of the Uber card sooner or later.

  • Does this stack with Rent Day bonuses? I.e., if you make a purchase on the 1st of a month and it's within the first 5 days of account opening, do you earn 10x on restaurants, 8x on travel and 6x on everything else (excluding rent)?

    • No. From Rent Day email link, "Cardholders who are currently earning points through the 5X for 5 Days promotion are not eligible for this promotion. Any category-specific or merchant-specific points promotion is also not eligible for double points on that specific category / merchant points accelerator."

  • That's assuming BILT doesn't lose your personal information while running the credit check and ID verification. Such a shifty company.

  • I created a Bilt account last week and the offer was on the dashboard to apply now. Received the card Wednesday, but interestingly never received an email related to the 5x. However the first transaction already posted and I did indeed receive the bonus points.

    • how long did the bonus points show up? was it the same day when it posts the 1x? I just got my card, and my few first tranactions only show 1X. So curious if I should wait to see if the additional 4X shows up later or call into Bilt to inquire

  • My rental company just added a fee for paying with an echeck. Guess it's finally time to use the 5/24 slot.

    • Appfolio? 😂. It's not really any trouble for me to have Fidelity mail a check, so they can spend time processing my paper checks now lol.

      • Lol yup, appfolio. I can get checks free and all, this little extra made it finally worth getting
