The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Open a new Capital One 360 Money Market account with the promotional code 200STRONG and receive a bonus of $200 when you complete the following requirements:
    • Deposit at least $10,000 no later than 3/31/2017 11:59PM

The Fine Print

  • PLEASE NOTE: You’ll only be eligible for this bonus offer if you received an email or mail invitation directly from Capital One with an invitation code.  [Reader Gadget said they saw this in a sidebar ad on Yahoo, so I suspect it isn’t actually targeted but YMMV].
  • To qualify for the $200 bonus, open your very first 360 Money Market account online and deposit at least $10,000 no later than 3/31/2017 11:59 p.m., E.T. (If you currently have or have had a Savings product with Capital One Bank, Capital One 360 or ING DIRECT before or are a Capital One Associate, you won’t be eligible for the bonus.) In order to qualify for the bonus, you must make a deposit from an external account. Transfers between any Capital One accounts will not qualify. This offer cannot be combined with any other Capital One Bank or Capital One 360 new account opening offer, and is strictly non-transferable. Bonus offer is not valid for multiple accounts and is only available one per account.
  • If you qualify for a bonus, Capital One will deposit the bonus money into your account in approximately 6-8 weeks after completing the above conditions. Once it’s deposited, the funds will be available immediately. Account must be in good standing (not in default, closed, or suspended, or otherwise not in good standing).

Avoiding Fees

This account has no monthly fees or minimums to worry about.

Our Verdict

The fact that this might not be targeted is very interesting, it’s obviously a great deal if that’s the case as there is no deposit length requirement for the $10,000 (although it obviously still requires $10,000 in cash). The 1% APY is OK, but there are much better rates available. I’m not going to add this to our list of the best savings accounts as I think there is too much risk involved in terms of the terms saying the offer is targeted. If you successfully get the bonus without being targeted then please let us know in the comments.

  • Wife applied Mar 31st (says it expires at midnight Apr 1st), deposited 10k within a few days. Still no bonus 40 days later. Will have to contact customer support, and unfortunately it looks like they have no SM or email support so I have to have her call...

  • 4/17 - Deposited $10,100 (Chase to Capital One ACHs)
    4/25 - Received $200 bonus

Was not targeted, saw it on here.

  • I'm getting rejected when trying to do trial deposits from Discover. Anybody else have issues doing intial deposit via ACH?

    • Since it's ACH, I'm assuming it's DiscoverBank (savings, checking)? If so, are you doing the transfer (ACH push) from Discover's side? You should be able to just add the account in your Capital One account and once verified, pull the money out that way from Discover into your Capital one.

      • My fault, I was trying to transfer from my acct to wifes. I see it checks the name

  • Worked perfectly and so quickly!

    3/24 - Deposit $10k
    3/28 - $200 bonus posts

I had an old ShareBuilder account that was rolled into Capital One, it did not restrict me from earning the bonus.

  • DP: Not targeted as far as I know. Opened on 3/7, deposited 10K the next day. Received "
Cha-Ching! CashPromotion" $200 on 3/15. It looks like they send out bonus every Wednesday according to my and others' data points.

Thank you! Good luck. You still have time!

    • My question in the other related thread as well. So far the DPs seem to indicate ACH push from other account into C1 are the ones that are working to generate the bonus unless you do the full 10K at initial transfer. However this is not what the terms state - just that there have been no DPs for successful bonus using ACH pulls after account opening.
I prefer ACH pull into C1 since it is quicker, but I might just play it safe and use ACH push on this one.

  • Not targeted, opened 2/22, interest changed 2/27, bonus posted 2/28. ACH transfer from USAA.

    • Sam, in the Cap1 360 portal, what do the 'Transaction type' and 'Appears on statement as' fields say for your USAA deposits? Seems from DP that 'P2P','Transfer','Deposit' are all options - mine says 'Electronic Transfer'.

      • I think this is incorrectly listed as DD datapoint. This looks like the 10k transfer into money market (because the person said "interest changes". You get this bonus by just depositing money into the account. You don't need a DD. To that end, USAA did not work for me as DD for Capital One 360 Checking.

        • Thanks, fixed. Would be helpful if readers make it clearer what bonus they are referring to

  • DP: Not targeted, opened 2/20 with a 10k transfer from ally savings (supposedly you can only use checking accounts but ally worked for me). Interest changed 2/22, bonus posted 2/28.

side note: I had some trouble signing up for an online account since I already have a capital one credit card. app went through but when it got to linking my existing account to capital one 360, the site just died and I couldn't continue. can't remember how exactly I did it but I think it involved going to "Don't have a username?" when trying to sign in to 360. Either way it was annoying, just a heads up for those with existing capital one accounts

  • Any DP for folks not targeted (by web, email, mail) and still getting the bonus? Seems like the bonus posts quickly but reluctant to jump in given my call to them confirming no targeted offers for me!
