(Update: the majority of readers are getting Chase to match the new offer. We have heard a few who were unsuccessful.)
Reader Krivad reports that Chase is willing to match the lower spend requirement of $8,000 on the new Chase INK Preferred signup offer. The points offer is the same at 100k, and the spend was recently lowered from $15,000 to $8,000. Via secure message, Chase agreed to match the new offer for the reader.
At one point they stopped matching signup bonus offers, yet more recently they are typically willing to match. This particular case is interesting given that the bonus is the same and only the spend requirement changed. Hopefully everyone else has the same luck with Chase secure messaging agreeing to the match.
A reader notes that using this method it might even be possible to sign up now using a referral link and then having them match the lower spend. Again, YMMV.

Here's the answer I got when requesting the matching lower spend requirement:
"Let us review the offer requested.
The offer you requested was to earn 100,000 bonus points
after you spend $8,000 in first three months from account
opening.
Meanwhile, the initial offer applied to your account upon
opening was to earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend
$15,000 in first three months from account opening.
Our records show that you have met the spending
requirement, but you are still within the qualifying
period. Please reply to this email eight weeks after
September 9, 2023 to claim the offer.
The option to remove the original offer is not available
and we must wait until the 8 weeks has passed before
points can be added. On the other hand, you'll be eligible
as long as your account is open and not in default when we
post the bonus."
I'm not sure I want to risk waiting until November to email back to claim the offer, which will be well past my window to reach the spend on the original offer. I'll probably just press forward with the original spend requirement. Thoughts?
same response..not sure what to do at this point lol
I assume Chase does not want to credit the bonus points manually now for $8,000, in case you then spend the full $15,000 and the system automatically credits another 100,000 bonus points.
my thoughts exactly and i decided to spend
referral link allows you to be able to apply for the $8k spend application
I was approved a match to the lower spend offer. I had only applied a few days prior to this offer going live.
My referral link now showing the $8000 spend requirement for the 100,000 point bonus
Last week when I generated a referral, it was showing the $15K spend. Today, the new referral link is showing the $8K spend
Refferal still shows 15k for me
Can you please share referral link for this offer?
Referrals are not allowed here. If @will or @chucksithe decide to, they will open a separate referral thread.
Just received a referral link for the Ink 100k for 8k spend offer!
Does anyone have any DP on whether Chase would match a new referral link application to $8,000? I’d like to refer P2, but my current link has the higher spend.
Here's the response I received from Chase. Thinking about maybe following up and asking while I have to wait until after the qualifying period to receive the bonus (typically it would post right after the statement closes in which the spending requirement was met). Thoughts?
"Thank you for contacting us.
We received your request to match the new offer to your
account and understand how important this is for you.
The offer you requested was 100,000 bonus points after you

account is open.
[Name], our records show that you have met the spending

You'll be eligible as long as your account is open and not
in default when we post the bonus.
Your eligible purchases do not include balance transfers,

We appreciate you being a Chase customer."
This is the exact same message I got. Seems strange that they won't just give me the points (they haven't yet) even though I've exceed the $8K spend already. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'd hate to assume I'm going to get the bonus, shift spend to other cards in the meantime, and then after my 90 day deadline (in Aug) find that something didn't go right and I missed out on the 100K altogether!
I've noticed some reps say reply back after you hit spend or reply back after a date. Others just apply the points. But I've always gotten the points after following the instructions in the SM. Usually the points get added with no note in activity and I get a physical letter a few days later. This is a bit different obviously since it's a spend, not a bump in points but the SM should be sufficient enough to point to if things wrong.
I think requesting the 100,000 points a few days after Aug 16 should be sufficient, although they still might delay posting the points. It will be interesting to see if card holders that received the response to let them know immediately after they spend $8000 to notify them receive the points immediately.
