The Fine Print

  • This is an exclusive, nontransferable offer
  • You cannot be:
    • An owner  on a current Wells Fargo savings account
    • A Wells Fargo team member
    • A recipient of a consumer bonus in the past 12 months (limit 1 bonus per customer)
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

There is a $5 monthly service fee, this is waived if you do any of the following:

  • Maintain a $300 minimum daily balance, OR
  • set up and maintain one or more automatic, recurring savings options, OR
  • are under the age of 18 (19 in AL) and are the primary owner of this account

Our Verdict

This is a targeted offer, you should see it when you log into your Wells Fargo account if you’r eligible. Probably only worth doing if there is no ChexSystems inquiry, otherwise there are a lot of other bank account bonuses that offer a much bigger reward. Keep in mind you can also currently get a $150 or $100 bonus on the Wells Fargo checking accounts (a requirement for this bonus) and this bonus is targeted and you can’t have received a consumer bonus in the past twelve months from Wells Fargo.

Big thanks to reader, Nicole S who let us know. Please consider sharing bank bonuses with this site so we can make it even better.

  • I got the bonus, 7 days after requirements were met.

DP: i recived a bonus for a wells checking account i opened in May.

  • Bonus posted 8/31 after recurring transfer on 8/30 as $300 deposit was made 2 weeks prior. Thank you, Wells Fargo!

  • I saw the offer the last few times I logged in, and took the offer on my account ave my spouse's account. Both of us opened checking accounts this summer for a $100 bonus, both opened poropel world amex cards to load serve, and we were both able to fund our savings accounts with our CSP visa for $50.

    Thanks for the $1050, wells!

    • T&C states that You cannot be:
◾A recipient of a consumer bonus in the past 12 months

Since you got $ 100 bonus for checking acct (consumer bonus) within last 12 months, doesn't that make you ineligible to receive $25 for the savings acct ?

  • Not seen during my login. Perhaps I got my checking earlier this year with $100 bonus.

    • It looks like it's not showing any obstacles when I just use the like above to sign up. Nothing mentioning the bonus either after clicking "Open An Account".

BTW: The fine print says "Within 60 days of opening the Way2Save Savings account, **reach $300** in cumulative deposits **and** set up a **monthly recurring automatic transfer** of at least $25 from a Wells Fargo consumer checking account to the savings account opened for this offer." So bit more than you have mentioned.
