I thought I’d put together a list of the most popular prime day deals based so far. This is based on what readers are actually purchasing, so should give you some idea of what is/isn’t a good deal (at least according to other readers). I’m only including items that are still at the same price as they were and I’m trying to provide any other stacking opportunities readers might have taken advantage of (feel free to add any I might have missed in the comments). For up to date prime day deals, click here. Now onto the list (either our affiliate links or links to our dedicated posts on each deal).
- Amazon: Free $5 Credit with $25 Gift Card Purchase (promo code GCPRIME18). Not surprised this was the most popular, basically an extra $5 towards Amazon.
- Fire Tablet 7. This is/was $9.99 when using a single MR or TYP point.
- Fire Tablet 8. Same as above but $19.99
- Kindle Paperwhite for $39.99. Required using a single MR point and being targeted for the deal.
- Kindle eReader for $9.99. Same as above
- Amazon Fire TV stick for $19.99. Half price, I’d be interested to hear from readers who have this and a Chromecast on what is better and why.
- Gift cards. Rather than putting the individual brands in, I thought I’d just put this down. I suspect that these are here because there is a working promo code to get 20% off using a single membership rewards point (up to $100 off)
- Bose QC25 headphones. List price is $300 and readers have been able to get them from $70. That list price is crazy and I don’t think anybody would ever pay that much but at $70 it’s a steal. I have the QC35 and I love them for air travel. I prefer the bluetooth connectivity but when the price difference is this much I’d settle for these wired versions.
- Amazon: 23andMe DNA Genetic/Ancestry Test + 75. I suspect this would have been more popular if readers didn’t buy so many in previous years.
- Fire Tablet 10. Not as popular as the other Fire Tablets, but it’s a lot more expensive at $69.99
- SanDisk 128 GB micro SD Memory Card. Currently sold out, but you can reserve it for $23.88 and get it at that price when it comes back into stock.
- Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD. $34.99, half off. Basically the same as the TV stick but more features for more money.
- Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Men’s Razor Blades, 12 Blade Refills. $23.61, savings of 51% from the list price. There should also be an additional 20% coupon you can clip on the product page to make it cheaper. If you purchase $60 in items you also get a further $20 off.
- Echo Dot (2nd Generation) – Smart speaker with Alexa. $29.99, kind of surprised these were/are so popular. I feel like I’m missing a deal to make them much cheaper? Update: If you add two then you get $10 off making them $25 each
- Toshiba 50-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED FIRE TV with HDR. $289.99 save $110. Seems cheap for a 50 inch smart tv, but I am always worried the quality will be awful.
Regarding item 13 Gilette deal – they also have a $20 off if you purchase items worth $60. I added two 8 pack Gilette blades and it ended up being 28 GIlette blades for about $46…
Thanks, added
I suspect the Echo Dot deal is so popular because iBotta is currently offering a $20 off + additional 3% cash back deal for it. If you have the Amazon Prime visa, that’s another 10% off, bringing the pretax total to about $9. Definitely an amazing deal if you’re in the market for it. (and even if not, hell that’s less than the average cost of lunch here in the Bay Area so might as well lol)
Can you take a pic for me? I can’t see the offer
The ibotta deal isn’t an extra $20 off, they are just advertising that amazon has it for $20 off unfortunately
Ah yes my bad I read the offer wrong. Now I’m also curious why the Echo Dot is so popular.
Best deal on the Dot is if you buy two, and use the AMEX 20% deal, brings the price down to $31 total, depending on your tax rate. I wouldn’t mind one more for $15, but don’t want two. Lowest I got the price down on one was $21 using Amex.

This must be the price for the iPhone version. The price I see for Android devices is $129 (a bargain, nonetheless), not counting some of the discounts one can earn in various ways. Pair either QC25 version with a $50 Wireless BlueTooth adapter from BTunes or from AirMod, et voila, you’ve got a top-notch, versatile, noise-cancelling headphone.
Just to let you know. The $70 is with amazon / amex 20% off for 1 MR point. Since it takes the 20% off the base price ($300): 130-60 = 70.
Hope that helps!
+1
I want to point out that for certain items, it is good to go through ebates. For example there is 4% cash back on the echo’s right now. I know ebates doesn’t typically work often for Amazon, but on occasion there is something it is worth using that. (for everything else I have been using your affiliate link!)
Thanks Amy, yes, for Amazon devices it’s best to go through a portal.
>Echo Dot- kind of surprised these were/are so popular
At its core functionality it’s a Bluetooth music player that works with Spotify that can be stuck almost anywhere. That alone makes it a great deal at $30 in my mind. Consider everything else it can do and it’s a steal.
I don’t think it’s a bad product, just not an exceptional buy at that price (e.g I’ve seen it similarly priced before)
Don’t forget if you purchase two Echo Dots, you get an additional $10 off, making them $25 a piece, which is the cheapest they have ever been. They were $30 between Black Friday and Christmas of 2017, but haven’t been back since. I won’t pay more than $30 for them as that has been a historical price.
Also, if you are new to Amazon Music Unlimited, you can get 3 months free by buying an Echo device. The Dot is included in that offer.
Ah..now $25 a piece I would go for. Is there a code required?
No code. You don’t even have to get the two-pack, just two Echo Dots in your cart. Just ensure it’s taking the discount off on the final checkout page. It wasn’t doing it via Prime Now, only regular Amazon.
Awesome! I stacked the amex 20% off deal on it, and used a gift card that I had purchased on another deal, so it was quite the savings! I will have some happy kids at my house!
Let me add that
We get the most use out of ours in the kitchen, setting timers for cooking converting measurements on the fly.
About to get a second one to use as a mobile intercom system in different parts of the house through the “drop in” feature.
That is exactly what I want it for!
Thanks for the calling out the Gillette razor blades. For me, there was an additional 20% coupon to clip on the Amazon product page as well as the AMEX MR single point option for those who qualify – final price was $10.11 plus CA tax.
Let me point that out
No mention of the instant pot? I’d say that’s got to be in the top 5.
As I said it’s just based on what readers have ordered
How do you though?! Based on comments?
Edit: I’m guessing referrals…
Yeah referrals
