  3. Receive a $350 bonus.

Offer valid from October 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 (“Offer Period”).

deal is back, but the hold times are now 6 months instead of just 2 from last year’s bonus terms.

  1. Deposit New Money into your new or existing Ameriprise® Bank Savings Account by August 30, 2024. See the chart below for details.
  2. Maintain existing balance and New Money deposits in the Account through February 28, 2025.
  3. Receive either a $500 or a $200 bonus

There is a lower tier this time as well. $200 for 10k and $500 for $25k. You’ll get a base rate of 3.2% plus the annualized 4% for the bonus (same for either tier) for a total of 7.4%. Not great, not terrible. You also have to hold funds above what you had in the account on June 30 2024, so tough cookies if you didn’t zero out. For a marginal 2.5% gain over what HYSAs are paying right now, I’d probably pass on this one if I weren’t already disqualified by this little hiccup: Offers are only available to existing Ameriprise clients as of June 30, 2024 who have not received a savings bonus in the past 18 months. After six months of holding on to this account in the hopes of repeating a bonus offer, I’ll probably close it out. It seems they’re onto us!

Has anyone closed this account yet? I brought my balance to zero but am seeing in the comments that others are leaving the account open for hope of future promos.

I was thinking of closing this account so that I can do it again sometime in the future if possible. I don’t see any value of keeping it as existing customers don’t usually get promos, if I understand correctly.

Existing customers were eligible for this promotion which is only savings promotion they have done and it is a pain to open a new account with them

For anyone keeping record, only pulled EWS based on my EWS report. Did not pull Chex or TeleCheck.

Question for the people with great knowledge/foresight in these things like mothman69 or ShawntheShawn :

Re-reading the initial terms, it looks like nothing was excluding current customers.
And opening the account was a bit of a hassle for most.

So is the best play here to leave the account open with a few $ in it, to take part in any potential future bonus rounds as an existing customer?
(similar to e.g Marcus or Ally Savings…)

Jay - ⒿⒶⓨ 🙈 🙉 🙊 It’s hard to say since this was their first savings account promo (that I know of), but yes I will probably just leave it open for now and see what happens if/when they have another savings promo.

I agree with mothman69 that it is hard to predict because it was Ameriprise’s first savings promotion, but at least it seems that Ameriprise welcomes existing customers in their promotions (Note that Ameriprise also did their first Cash Management account promotion last June, which was also open to both new and existing customers). So I will keep my account open to be prepared for their future promotions. Jay - ⒿⒶⓨ 🙈 🙉 🙊

I transferred out the bonus on P2 and myself to a UFB 5.25 % acct. They accept MO deposits for my “biz”. Then xfer out most of the deposits to pay the bills from another bank. I do not go overboard as I only deposited 2 MO and it’s ok. But if you do not do this “biz” then I would just keep a minimum there as others have said.

well rec’d 500.00 on myself and P1 accts 3 days ago. Moved 25k out of both accts 1/4/24.except for the interest. Put the funds into UFB 5.25 % acct. I’m keeping this acct as it seems to accept postal money orders via mobile. At least deposited one 10 minutes ago and got “accepted”. But who knows. Could get email that they do not accept these deposits.
