[Expired] AmEx Offers: Exxon, Spend $25 via the app & Get $5 Statement Credit

Update 9/4/24: Deal is back until 11/30/2024

The Offer

Check your AmEx Offers for the following deal:

  • Get a one-time $5 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $25 or more using the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app by 12/31/2023.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid for automotive fuel purchases made through the Exxon Mobil Rewards+â„¢ app at participating Exxon and Mobil stations in the US.
  • Qualifying purchases must be made directly through the app. You must first load your Card to the app using a compatible device in order to qualify. Not valid for contactless or swipe transactions made through pump based payment terminals. Excludes purchases made in-store, online, and any other transactions made outside of the app.
  • Not valid for gift cards, convenience stores, carwashes, garage/mechanic services or purchases made with Alexa.

Our Verdict

Nice little discount. I’m too lazy to download the app and set it up; if anyone sees it working without the app please let us know.

Used this today via the app, via Apple Pay so hopefully that didn’t screw it up. Not sure why the post is marked as expired, ends 12/31/24… so almost expired 🙂

Same. Took a long time to be credited though. Received an email that I successfully used the offer 7 days after the fuel purchase. And then the $5 credit finally posted 9 days after… Sucks that you don’t know if it worked or not for a whole week… Had the same issue with the recent Google Pay/Wallet offer. Hopefully this isn’t the new enshittified norm for Amex offers.

My offer says:

“Valid only on purchases paid for at the pump or through the Exxon Mobil Rewards app. See terms.”

“Offer valid for automotive fuel purchases made at the pump or through the Exxon Mobil Rewards app at participating Exxon and Mobil stations in the US.”

Using card at pump yesterday (no app) worked for me. Received email today “Good news! You used your Amex offer!”

My car prefers premium fuel and in my comparison, QT gas stations have cheapest premium gas even after applying all the member benefits of all other gas stations

Does this still work with the Walmart+ like that commenter from 2023 said?

Hate these app offers

agreed. I don’t take advantage of T-Mobile Shell codes for that reason. The only station close to me doesn’t even accept the app.

you dont have to do T-Mobile shell offer with App. You can use that by phone number with Fuel rewards

Got this on my BCP and old SPG/Bonvoy Amex.

Only a 1% loss on base gas earning with the BCP from my usual 4% gas card, so roughly .57 cents/gal off with a $25 purchase(based on $3/gal gas) Actual savings YMMV, depends how overpriced Exxon gas is from where you normally buy gas. If it’s a lot more, be sure to only fill to exactly $25, any more and your savings dwindle, and of course any less than $25 gets you nothing at all.
