In case you didn’t already know, there is an AmEx sync offer where you get a $15 statement credit when you spend $75 or more at home depot. The fine print on the offer states:
All gift card purchases made online, gift cards sold by third parties and corporate gift cards are excluded
I took this to mean that 3rd party gift cards (such as ExxonMobil) would not trigger this offer. Fiby pointed out that maybe what they actually meant is that home depot gift cards sold by third parties would not trigger the bonus. Either way people are reporting that they have received the congratulations e-mail when purchasing third party gift cards at home depot. This doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get the $15 statement credit, but I’d be surprised if you don’t.
Giftcards Available
Your local home depot store may have some or none of these gift cards available, if you’re reselling for cash profit you should be able to find something that resells for at least 90% of face value. Rather than simply copying and pasting somebody else’s list, go check out this post by Frequent Miler (which while a little old should still be fairly up to date). If you see any gift cards not listed there, comment here and we can make another list.
I recently purchased a $100 visa gift card at Home Depot with my serve card but it didn’t trigger the bonus. What’s the best thing to do now? Thanks!
There were $25 Chipotle gift cards available at my Home Depot. I bought 3 of them (to use, not resell).
Once I verify that the Amex offer posts, then I will go back and buy 3x $100 Visa gift cards split across 4 Amex’s (assuming they let me split four ways).
By the way, I’ve been getting error pages on your blog recently, saying Error establishing database connection.
Yeah, we’ve been having issues with the site. Hopefully they are fixed for now, but who knows!
Confirmed – Amex offer has posted for my Chipotle gift card purchase.
I’ll be going back for those sweet Visa gift cards =)
Be careful to do the math right. If you buy exactly $75.00 in gas gift cards, then great. If you buy say $100 instead then you’ll only get 90% of $100 or $90 for that card, losing $10 in the process. And thus make $5 on the deal. On $75.00 exactly you’d get back $67.50 and make $7.50 on the deal.
What about whole foods?
They don’t sell third party gift cards I don’t think!
William, what do you mean by they do not sell third party gift cards?
My local Home Depots sell a whole plethora of gift cards from AT&T to Shell to Chilis. Maybe your local stores do not do this.
Will was referring to Whole Foods, which a previous commenter had asked about.
Yup, there are lots of gas and other third-party gc, plus Visa/Mastercard. Nothing over $100 unfortunately.
HD sells Metabank $100 VGC, at least in my area.
