Reddit user BrickTaunter reports that the deal is active again, this time no expiry date is listed and flight crew weren’t sure when it expired. Looks like this might just be an ongoing promotion now. Thanks to reader Nates for also sending this in

Our Verdict

I’m not sure why more airlines don’t do in flight paper apps that actually offer higher than normal bonuses. I would have thought customer acquisition costs would be low enough that it would be worth doing but usually the opposite is the case on most airlines (e.g they offer you 35,000 miles inflight compared to 50,000 miles online). Either way this is the highest bonus we’ve seen on the Hawaiian card, previous best was 50,000 miles.

In terms of what to do with the miles:

  • You can get flights for 35,000 miles round trip with the card from mainland USA to Hawaii, but there isn’t a lot of space available.
  • Intra island flights are 7,500 miles one way
  • You can also transfer the miles to Hilton at a rate of 1:1.5 (although I’d say this is a bad use of points)

As always if you have any questions about Barclays credit cards, read this post first. I won’t be adding this to the list of the best credit card offers due to the fact it’s in flight only.

I suggest taking a screenshot and photos of any credit card offer you apply for online, so you can document what the offer really was. I applied for a Hawaiian Airlines credit card offer which was 60,000 miles after a purchase, within 90 days, and a $300 statement credit, after $2000 spend within 90 days. They approved me but are now saying its 25,000 miles and a $300 statement credit. I opened a case with Hawaiian Airlines credit card, but they are still stating it is 25,000 miles and a $300 statement credit.

This is online right now at Hawaiian Airlines, 60K miles. The only difference is a requirement for a min $2K purchase within 90 days, instead of just a single (any) purchase. That’s a good deal still. YES you can mail in an application if you were on the flight and did not use it. It has a code on any app provided inflight. You have to mail it in

Yes, the latest in flight offer earns you 60,000 bonus miles with a single purchase of any amount, and it must be made within 90 days of receiving your card.

I’d be interested in acquiring a 60k for 1 purchase sign up form from someone. Not sure how to go about arranging that though…

I also received email invitation to apply with 60k points. So seems like it is not in flight only

Is this card under the 6/24 scrutiny of Barclays ? I was rejected for the aviator business card a couple of days ago because of new accounts in 24 months. Not sure if I should go for this one or not.

Only for the app you receive on the plane. If you apply online, and without the airline in-person app with the code on it (which you can’t enter online, the min spend within 90 days is $2K

Inflight only offer right now, is that you get the 60K miles, when you make any single charge within 90 days, any amount, vs a required $2K spend for the online (same otherwise) offer

The Hawaiian award chart is a major ripoff on both Hawaiian and the partners’. I’ve had 200K+ for years without being able to find the right redemption for them. I think I’ve already bought 500 miles twice over the years to extend the expiration date, and the new one is looming in March. But then I’m stubborn like that, always looking for a good deal even when there are none.

The only decent use of HawaiianMiles I can think of is 125K for Virgin Atlantic in Upper Class between the East Coast and London. Last time I checked they didn’t charge YQs, but that was years ago. Hopefully, it’s still the case.

The paper app shows AF as $99, but post reads $89. I’m guessing they upped the AF for 2019?

Annual fee is waived the 1st year, then it’s $99 on this offer.
