2019 Hilton Status Match & Challenge (90 Days Match, Status Through March 2021 After Completing Challenge)

Update 5/21/19: The landing page now displays the new 2021 match date.

Update 5/10/19: Match after completing requirement is now through March 31st, 2021 instead of 2020, although LoyaltyLobby notes that Hilton is still in the process of updating the landing page.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Hilton is offering status matches to Gold and Diamond, you will receive the match for 90 days and then you can keep that level of status through March 31st, 2021 by completing the following requirements:
    • Gold: Complete 4 stays in 90 days
    • Diamond: Complete 8 stays in 90 days
  • To receive the status match you need comparable status with another hotel and also proof that you’ve stayed at that hotel within the last 12 months

The Fine Print

  • Acceptable forms of status validation include a screenshot of your current account status or your current and active membership card. Acceptable forms of stay validation include a screenshot of your previous reservations or hotel receipt, redacting any personal information other than your name and membership number. We accept .jpg files only. Please do NOT send us any personal information (including your phone number, address, social security number, date of birth, user name, passwords, or credit card information). Hilton reserves the right to decline any application at any time for any reason. Hilton may require additional validation in its complete discretion.

Our Verdict

Keep in mind that award, cash & points and cash stays all count towards the stay requirements for keeping status. Obviously you’ll want to wait until you have an upcoming stay or stays before requesting the match/challenge.

Every year I have a work trip at a Hilton resort. I have 3 Hilton cards, and I was just going to go to the no AF + Ascend card to keep gold status. However, should I just keep the no AF card and do a 90 day status match challenge every year?

I have the $49 IHG card so it sounds like I would get matched to diamond based on comments below? Can I do this every year?

Does this work on stays I reserve for others but on my HHonor account? I personally can’t do 8 stays but may be able to reserve for others. Thanks.

As long as the reservation is in your name and you put the other person as an additional guest

No need to get Aspire- get the $95 Ascend. It gives you Gold, which in my experience is just as good as Diamond. Free breakfast everywhere. I have Aspire and the benefits are good if you can use them, but earnings on Ascend are better (6x on gas). Not sure if they waive the fee the first year but the sign up bonus is the same 150k as Aspire.

Diamond guarantees you a suite upgrade with every reservation plus you get executive lounge access. So depends on whether you value those things

The cards aren’t really comparable as far as the other benefits go either. For an extra $350 the Aspire is the far better card. You get so much more for that money its really not even close

Diamond certainly doesn’t guarantee a suite upgrade. Check the T&Cs and let me know who upgrades you every time, cause I’m going there.

Also I’m just griping but I’m in a 30-story Hilton and it’s doesn’t have an executive lounge. Stayed downtown Cleveland last weekend and their lounge was closed weekends. Hilton is lucky Marriott sucks worse.

The title (and a bunch of other websites) report the 2021 date and that a Hilton Spokesperson noted that the company is in the process of updating the “2020” on the landing page.

For what it’s worth, Hilton’s HHonors frontline staff still maintain that it is 2020. I put in the request on May 10th, got the status as of today (May 14th), and so would love if Hilton could get some clarity at some point.

Any idea the timeframe between submitting the application and approval? Thinking to go for Diamond but may need to squeeze in a few at the very beginning of the period and one around 90d later, so would be great to know if I could book now and register the day before the trip.

Do certificate stays count?

No

You need to spend at least a dollar to trigger a night stay or else it doesnt show up as night.
Unfortunately I didn’t knew it before and missed my chance, was short of one night. Hilton rep confirmed” no points stay counts toward status match promotion.”

This is not true. I booked 7 out of 8 stays with points, and I still accomplished the challenge.
