Our Verdict
Checking bonus is OK, but it’s annoying that you need to open in branch. Only worth doing if it turns out to be a soft pull, should be possible to find out if that will be the case before opening the account by asking in branch. Savings account might be worth doing as well, although it’s a shame it’s only that rate until 10/31/19.

William Charles I bypassed the chex sensitivity in branch using my friendly conversation skills.

My old home town!
FWIW, I was told it was a hard pull to open account/get CU membership in PA during a previous promo.
Account is a soft pull to open. Pretty chex sensitive, even in branch.
Have been denied twice in the past for chex. 6/24 chex and 23/24 chex, respectively.
Gonna try again now since my chex is so bad that I don’t even care about the inquiry. Wish me luck.
Do you have to live in CT to qualify for the promotion?
” You’re eligible for membership if you live, work, worship, attend school in Hartford County, Middlesex County, New Haven County or Tolland County. You also can join American Eagle FCU if you have an immediate family member who’s an American Eagle FCU member, or if you live in the same household as a current American Eagle FCU member.”
I went on the website and looked at the terms and conditions I did not see anything that mentioned you had to live in the counties that you mentioned
Did you get it
