Deals To Watch Out For
There really aren’t that many interesting deals if you ask me. Some that caught my eye are:
- $1,000 Orbitz for $650. Keep in mind it’s possible to get deep hotel discounts with other brands (e.g read our guide to stacking Hotels.com discounts). This voucher needs to be used in a single booking and you must book by March 15th 2020 for travel until December 31st, 2020.
- 20% off Marriott gift cards. These usually sell out extremely quickly.
- Hyatt points for close to 1¢ per point. Again these sell out quickly.
- None of the other deals are even remotely interesting from my perspective, let me know what ones caught your eye in the comments below.

Who did their math on the Hyatt points? 40k points for $415 is a BETTER deal than 24k for $260, 30k for $330 or 72k for $775, yet they show a lower discount percentage on the 40k deal.

Could the Best Western, Choice and Wyndham points bought here be used for Europe properties?
Yes.
Some of the Vegas stays are reasonable, especially the ones that include show tickets and restaurant credits almost to the value of the deal cost. The deals I checked surprisingly INCLUDED resort fees and taxes, a significant portion of cost for lower tier properties.
I have done the Alamo deal in the past. You can use up to 3 certificates (have to call in to use more than 1) per rental. Couple years ago i rented a car in May during their drive out of Florida deal @$7/day. I believe they had a 21 day max rental so it worked out to just paying taxes,which are very high, I think itwas around $50.
Drove to NYS via Texas and Arkansas to visit family-just shy of 5000 miles. So factoring in the certificate cost and taxes, a three week rental cost $125.
Tip: if you are going to do this deal from MIA or FLL, rent off airport at their MIami Beach location. It will save you at least $100.
Did you get a convertible? I once got one for a Florida drive-out. Best 3 week rental ever!
hyatt used to be the only thing I would go for. looks like it is gone this year unless it appears later for the last week.
The $30 a day Avis deal was and can be an excellent deal.
Bought 7 days last year used them all in Hawaii last year even was able to get a mini-van for kayaks for part of the rental days
Certs are(were) physical paper and good for 12 months from Avis.
Good to know, I generally don’t rent cars so I always overlook those sort of deals.
PSA: Daily Getaway’s is an OTA so last year the charge on my CIP earned 3X UR. Workshop show’s that CSR also codes as travel for $300 travel credit or 3X. Not sure about DP for other issuer’s. This info might make some deals more attractive (IHG) 😉 and sell out faster.
Do you know if the cert works for one-way rentals?
I looked to see if I could find photos of the certs and T&C to check. I think I might have deleted them already.
IIRC they were pretty flexible certs without a lot of restrictions.
But It’s a great idea esp if you live within a few hours of another major hub i.e. PDX-SEA for planning award tickets and can pickup the rental close to home or transit.
