Our Verdict
It looks like Upromise are getting serious about gaining market share. They are currently offering $25 if you join the shopping portal (no spend requirement, ends on the 12th) and now this. I was a little bit disappointed to see that the sign up bonus on the Sallie Mae Mastercard was also not increased to $100, as that’s one of my favorite cards.
This isn’t the highest cash sign up bonus going around, the main selling point is 5% cash back on Upromise portal. Because of this feature Miles To Memories voted this as his most underrated credit card, as did Are We There Yet. I think that now the sign up bonus has been increased this card is definitely worth a look.
The only problem is that this card is issued by Barclaycard and they don’t like to see a lot of new inquiries, especially when they are Barclaycard inquiries. They also have a higher sign up bonus of 50,000 miles on the US Airways credit card.
I’m going to give this offer a miss, when Barclaycard lose their US Airways partnership they will have a much larger marketing and promotional budget for their other cards. I expect to see higher sign up bonuses on a lot of their cards before they sign up another major airline (probably JetBlue). Because of that I don’t want to many inquiries with them.
Hat tip to Miles to Memories for letting me know about this deal. Please consider using his link if you do sign up for this bonus, instructions are in his post.
