Citi has launched ‘Pay With Points‘ this lets members with Citi ThankYou points to use them directly at check out. This new feature will launch in July and you can either receive push notifications after a purchase is made or redeem points real time. When redeeming points for purchases they are worth 0.8¢ per point so it’s not really worth considering. Only purchases in the following categories are eligible for Pay With Points:
- Dining
- Grocery
- Gas
- Clothing & department stores
- Utility
- Entertainment
- Drugstores
I am guessing that’s part of the exciting benefits that Citi is bringing to its cards… 😉

From the infographic, it sounds like you have to log into your Citi account *after* making a purchase to apply points to that purchase, rather than actually applying them during the checkout process on a retailer’s website.
Why do they even bother with this stuff? how many staff and hours were spent—between technology, accounting, marketing, legal, compliance, etc, etc…to roll out this stupid program? Good lord, Citi.
They need to come up with a very short list of the nuts and bolts that they must get right if they want to be a CC player. Then focus on those few things, and stop all this other superfluous stuff.
Ridiculous.
Is this even new? I think it’s just a new name for the select and credit feature
you absolute bozohead who needs this? you post stinky stuff that are not applicable adn just make this whole points things confusing STOP PLEASE
Don’t click on stuff you don’t any interest in then.
Don’t have*
Don’t shoot the messenger. DoC doesn’t come up with these programs, they just report about them so we can keep up with the changes to ones we use or are considering using. Ignorance costs you money.
I honestly can’t be mad at someone who says bozohead, and calls posts they don’t like stinky.
Hey did you lose money in casino or something?
This topic reminded me of sth I wanted advice on for a while:
Lets assume I have no use for around 65k Citi TY pts for anything travel related.
What’s my ‘best’ value option to redeem them?
(If the answer is selling them, anyone got experience with a trustworthy service w good rates?)
I always redeem Thank you points for gift cards 2500 points for $25 gift cards. They have gift cards for lot of merchants we visit frequently. Once in a while they give $25 gift card for 2250 points for very few merchants.
Jay, 65K is not a lot to sell. You should transfer partners (Asia Miles, Singapore Airlines, etc) if you have Premier or Prestige
Horrible redemption for TY points.
Shame that citi thinks that they have consumers that are clueless.
This is a synchrony bank type of thing to do.
Shame
Well… it beats statement credit, but …
What are you talking bout?? Statement credit you get 1:1 ratio. 25.000 points gets you $250. Am i missing something?? I havr the prestige card
Other cards don’t have the one to one ratio.
You can also use for mortgage and student loans at 1:1 ratio but you have to call in. I have done so with AT&T and checking account points.
JR, It’s not 1:1 statement credit, not sure where you heard that. You’re better off getting gift cards. The whole TY points is a sad mess.

I get this info from personal experience lol. I have the prestige and i get 1:1 statement credit. For example $250 needs 25.000 TYP. I can send screenshots if you want. I think you are talking bout thank you from citi gold or other citi cards with no fee or maybe even the premiere but the prestige gets you exactly what i wrote
JFC Citi. Is this really what your customers want?
Yeah this so worth losing everything else
