Despite the fine print saying no purchase required, in app it’s saying a purchase IS required so marking this as YMMV
The Offer
- Texas Roadhouse is offering a free appetizer when you use the new app
The Fine Print
- No purchase necessary
Our Verdict
Always nice to see free food deals that don’t require any purchase. As always you can find more free food deals by clicking here.

Roadhouse! (Peter Griffin)
I submitted a complaint to the corporate office via the contact form on the website. Within a few hours they emailed me a coupon which does not have the purchase requirement but does say dine in only (and it’s good until November). I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth it to go order just the appetizer, take a bite and ask for a carryout box. I could maybe eat some peanuts while I wait (though they’re a lot more stingy on those than they used to be). Hardly seems worth the effort though.
FYI, Splitting a meal and an APP with another person is plenty enough food for me. – And I like to eat a lot.
2 average people should be able to split a meal and perhaps have food left over. With a free App you will definitely have food left over.
Note: 1 Potential benefit to the app compared to their Email club, is the the coupon appeared instantly after signup and is good for 30 days. – If you’re spouse is anything like mine and wants to go out to eat spur of the moment, an instant coupon can be fairly useful. (Come on! Everyone knows I’m physically incapable of eating out without a coupon! It’s expensive enough with a coupon!)
I was surprised to see this offer, since Texas Roadhouse roadhouse has required purchase for any other ‘free’ food offer I’ve seen. My guess is they got their wires crossed.
Although unlikely, I wonder if you can indeed earn a truly free app by following the instructions:
“You can even unlock rewards just for trying it out”. (I.e. Fill out profile, Waitlist, Pay, Order to go.) Doubtful since a free APP already came up after sign up. I assume that’s the intended deal. Regardless, the 3 other things basically require a purchase anyways.
It would be just some nasty fried thing right?
On your birthday, you can choose a side of ribs,
instead of those fried items
On the scale of healthy to unhealthy Ribs and the other Apps are both on the same end. – I still eat there , as the food is good.
Nice to see a food deal not littered with people posting health/quality complaints. This site isn’t “Google Reviews” “Zomato” etc.
downloaded app, dont see offer. anyone see it?
It is under “VIP Offers”. You need to buy an adult entree while dining in.
You have to purchase an adult entree. Dine in only.
Seems counter to the terms listed on the link. Where did you get your information?
Download the app and add the promotion. You will see for yourself.
So when they say “no purchase necessary” they must mean to download their app and get marketing text messages/emails from them vs the free app in the giant picture above?
We are on their marketing list and get free app or free kids meal offers monthly so the only obvious benefit to the app would be to check in ahead of time with a few clicks, but we go so infrequently it probably isn’t worth it.
where does it say that? It explicitly says in the fine print, “no purchase necessary.” And in the app ad, option #4 is “order to go.”
Yep, says that on the reward once you download the app. Talk about bait n switch!

Yep, “With purchase of adult entree.” Looks like their standard Email offer to me.
