Our Verdict
This is a lot less than the standard 60,000 point upgrade offer. Last time it was offered it was primarily for green cardholders, I wonder if the reduced bonus is due to the rumored refresh on that green card coming out soon. Given this card has a $550 annual fee and it’s more difficult to see the $200 travel credit I don’t think this is a particularly strong offer. The upside to this upgrade offer is that you can get the bonus even if you’ve had the card before so I guess for some people who just want the card again then 25,000 points is better than nothing.
If you haven’t had the card before my recommendation would be to wait for a 100,000 point offer to come along that you’re eligible for. If you have any questions about upgrade offers, please read this post before asking any questions. General American Express questions are likely answered here.

I have a gold and a green. I see both offers (25 for 2 & 60 for 5) alternately every so often for over a year now.
Then take them what
I also see it on my gold and my AF is not due in another 10 months. Just took a retention offer a couple of months ago.
Is the Soul Cycle benefit still active? I can’t seem to get to it.
I was previously getting the 60k MRs for $5k spend, but now I’m getting this new offer as well.
The Platinum isn’t a good fit for me (and probably never will be) but I see the lower offer possibly valuable if someone would have a hard time spending $5k in 90 days – 25k MRs is better than no MRs.
I am getting the 60k for 5k upgrade offer.
Same, and have been for a while
I’ve had a 60K upgrade offer for a WHILE now from my gold card to the platinum card. I haven’t acted on it because I don’t need the platinum card right now — and I can easily see a 75K bonus using incognito. I’d rather get a 60/75/100k offer when I am able to make use of the platinum card’s perks.

This isn’t the upgrade offer we’re talking about in the post
I’ve this upgrade offer on my personal Gold. I think it’s due to annual fee coming shortly. However I did get a retention offer of 15k/2k spend.
Take the retention offer. Gold is much better than platinum for the real people. By far.
For the posers platinum is better.
That is YOUR opinion. I also have Gold but I disagree that Platinum is for posers only. If you use the benefits (uber and incedentals) and you want access to lounges, it is better option than Gold.
Nope. Everyone understands it’s your opinion even though i am saying it.
I never have platinum before, so this upgrade is useless atm. I’m thinking to get platinum next month possibly to tripple dip the flight credit.
*trippple
but did you find a way to use the airline credit.. old ways are gone
The incidentals are not a benefit. They are legwork to pay back that big AF.
But I agree if you can use some of the premium lounges. No centurion at my home airport, so no sale for me.
