How long will it take to get the $10 statement credit? The $50 purchase was posted on Oct 19 as CS *HOTELS.COM GC.

That seems like a really long time, has the offer disappeared? You can chat with Amex for them to investigate. Make sure you did the $10 offer and not points offer – I made that mistake once.

Does this have to be from Hotels.com/giftcard or App purchase also counts?
MileagePlusX has a nice bonus on Hotels.com App spend.

If you read the terms, the MPX app only awards miles on paid hotel stays. So no, it will not work. That said, sometimes you can get lucky, but I don’t even see a way to purchase a gift card via the Hotels.com app, and for sure it cannot code as an MPX purchase from within that app.

Amex has gotten so shady! I had the offer on my screen and clicked to other cards to see if I could load it to a better card, but it wasn’t on any of the other cards. Clicked back to the card it was originally offered on, and it’s no longer there. Has anyone encountered this?

Probably hit the limit of people adding it to the card. I have had that happen.

Nope, that’s not it, because it was just released.

I was able to use the app to add the offer in the end.

Combine the hotels.com GC is a PITA.

Also, I thought there is no more stacking with shopping portal when using a gift card

Portal stacked for me last spring when I used a gift card, but only on the balance remaining after applying the gc, of course. I think they prevent using a coupon code and a gc together, though, which is a bummer…especially if you’re trying to favor coupons over their rewards program.

One can check gc balance via dummy booking — by picking an arbitrary hotel that supports gc payment and typing the card info at the payment page. It allows to check balance without making payment.
