IRS has a new feature that lets you check the status of your stimulus payment. In addition you can confirm your payment and enter your bank information if they don’t already have your information on file and payment hasn’t been sent yet.

Checking the site now shows me:
“We scheduled your payment to be deposited on May 06, 2020 to the bank account below.
Bank Account Number: ************XXXX”
My bank already shows the $1200 as pending with a posting date due on 5/6.
There appears to be conflicting information on who can use the “Get My Payment” tool.
On IRS website it first states:
1. “If you filed your 2018 or 2019 tax return and it has been processed, you can check Get My Payment for the status of your economic impact payment.”
However, further down on the page it states:
2. “The Get My Payment application will return “Payment Status Not Available” for several reasons, including:
You are required to file a tax return, but:
We haven’t finished processing your 2019 return
The application doesn’t yet have your data; we’re working on adding more data to allow more people to use it.”
*** Which is it? Can we use the Tool if we have filed for 2018 but not 2019? ***
I filed for 2018 (I didn’t owe any money so the IRS doesn’t have my deposit info), but not for 2019.
I get the message “Payment Status Not Available”….
Here is the IRS link: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment-frequently-asked-questions
What do u do if u don’t have an dp acct. Or the right address? And every time I go into the portal it just locks me out saying I the incorrect S’s #. What do u do? Need help
Getting “the information you have entered does not match our records”
I can finally get past the locked gate now… and then for bank info it asks for 2019 AGI and tax payment/refund. Those fail, so it suggests I use 2018 numbers. 2018 original filing numbers fail, so I use amended numbers (which show only a fractional payment because original return carried the original “full” payment). That fails… and then it kicks me off for 24 hours. Jeebus.
Tried again today and still get:
“Technical Difficulties
We apologize for the inconvenience but this service is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
I guess I’ll wait for a check in the mail.
Haven’t filed my 2019 taxes and owed in 2018 so no DD for me and kept getting Payment Status Not Available when checking Get My Payment. I believe the IRS has updated the site, I put my info in today (4/24) and it found my information and let me add my DD bank information. It looks like they are updating the site with new information. Good luck!
Yes! I just checked again and it’s allowing me to enter my bank account info! Just entered and it was accepted!
Only complaint — I don’t understand why sites like this don’t let you paste in bank account info. I am far less likely to make a typo cutting and pasting in my account information from a file on my computer than I am having to type it twice.
FYI I entered my info after seeing your post. It’s now saying that I will receive my payment this Wednesday (5/6). Hopefully you will get the same info when you check.
I have been getting Payment Status Not Available. Finally was able to enter bank info this morning.
Situation: Owed for 2018.
