Update: This has now been confirmed as being accurate. We will have a post on other cards benefits shortly.
This is a rumor and I’m unsure how reliable it is but American Express is set to add new benefits to the American Express Platinum card, these benefits will go live tomorrow (May 1st) and run through December 31st, 2020. Benefits are as follows:
- $20 per month credit for streaming services
- $20 per month credit for wireless mobile services
American Express had previously hinted at new benefits for Platinum cardholders during the Q1 earnings call. Yesterday there was another rumor that American Express would be providing annual fee relief as well.
Google Fi still works fine for wireless credit.
Amex Biz Platinum new DP for Wireless Mobile Credit as of August 2020:
* Google voice unlock fee $3 is *NOT* reimbursed. I think people reported it was eligible.
* AT&T fiber (appeared as AT&T UVERSE PAYMENT) is reimbursed. I don’t think it was eligible before.
HBO Max and Peacock are now officially listed as eligible streaming services to receive the streaming credit.

Data Point: At the end of May, I bought a $15 and then $5 Google Play Credit through the Android Google Play Store, and was reimbursed with a credit 4 days later. I attempted the exact same thing at the end of June (on the 30th) and still haven’t seen a reimbursement credit. I’m guessing they probably caught on and stopped it from occurring. I assume others have experienced the same thing?
Does the $20 wireless credit work on the Delta AmX Platinum card?
Received my Amex Platinum credit for Prime Video.
Has anyone figured out the play (LOL) on preloading $20/month to Google Play?
I’m not seeing a direct load option. I’m not even seeing the option to buy GCs directly on my PC.
Use phone or tablet — open Play Store app then menu then Payment Methods then scroll down to “Buy Google Play Credit”
Might have to do $5+$15 or 2x $10 — I would do $5 first to make sure you get the credit that month then add $15 more to use rest of the credit (in case Amex changes it in the future)
Thanks friend, will test this weekend.
I can confirm that the AMEX streaming credit works for the Amazon Prime Channels that are add-on subscriptions (like Acorn TV). I have 4 of these, so I’ll be able to max the credit.
What’s the advantage or disadvantage of having addons channels instead of signing up separately?
As a small DP, I received the $20 mobile credit on my internet service bill, since it’s Verizon FiOS.
Just tried this, annoying to lose the $10 autopay discount, but still valuable if it works!
You can make 2 $20 payments in a billing period that lessen the cost of autopay. Example My billing period is from the May 11th to 10th June, I will make a payment after May 11 in May and then another payment in June before the 10th, that way I pay $40 with Amex money and only lost 1 month autopay discount
I paid $20 towards Verizon FiOS bill a week ago and didn’t get credit. I chatted with CSR and I was told that Verizon one-time payment is not eligible. May be they have fixed loophole. I will be interesting to know if this has worked for anyone else.
DP: Paid for the disney+, espn and hulu bundle with billing in disney+. Credit posted 4 days after.
Anyone used this with Starz?
