Our Verdict
This is better than the standard offers which are usually for $10/$15 off when you purchase $300+ in Visa/Mastercard gift cards. Make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on office supply stores, Chase and other banks also have a 10% back deal as well. Deal isn’t being advertised online but is being advertised in store.
Bought a $200 VGC today for $190 sale + 6.95 fee = $196.95
Also bought 16pk Duracell AA batteries that are free after rewards — had them price match Walmart for lower $12.78 price.
Recycled 20 ink cartridges without problem — have total of $52.78 rewards pending ($40 ink + $12.78 battery)
Paid with CIC for 5% cash back — also have 10% Chase Offer on the card (max $8 statement credit)
Came back to this post to highlight the 10% Chase offer. Expires 6/7 and luckily it just happens to be on my Ink+…
I thought 10 was the max for recycled ink cartridges? and I didn’t know about batteries being recycled.
You can’t recycle batteries (only ink) — I bought the free after reward batteries since you need to make a $10+ purchase during the month to be able to recycle 10 ink carts.
In April they didn’t have ink recycling so this month they were allowing 20 carts to make up for that. Regular reward members were able to recycle 20 earlier this month, but OD might have changed it recently — now it might be 10 for regular reward members and 20 for VIP reward members:

where can we use these rewards for ? Any item ?
Most of the items that OD/OM sells — not on gift cards
Is there a $5.95 dollar fee ? and only saving $4.05 per $100 card?
greg Bought some today with a $5.95 fee per card. One per person was not enforced at my store. Bought several in consecutive transactions.
Some whole regions (OH-KY-TN) of Office Depot are temporarily not selling gift cards as a loss prevention measure.
Confirmed in OH-KY-IN region.
Bought a few in two different Ohio stores today.
what loss are they preventing? The loss of sales?
I’d recommend calling ahead first to make sure the stores are open to the public. For example, all the Office Depot/Max stores in SF are closed to the public and only open for curbside pickup of online orders. They won’t let anyone inside the store.
I was just wondering this morning when this would come back around, must be my lucky day.
“Do you feel lucky, punk?”
Sorry text only so you have to conjure up the meme with your own mind
So if I buy 2 * $200 Visa Gift Cards on the same receipt, does that mean the register will take a total of $20 off? Or does one have to bill each $200 Visa gift card separately for the register to take $10 off individually on each receipt?
Yes.
Steve was the YES to my first question or second question?
You could buy the entire store worth of GCs and only get $10 off (limit 1 per customer).
If I had to guess, it’s one at a time…
If you purchase 2 X $200, you will receive $10 off the total, not $20. So best to purchase 1 X $200 VGC at a time.
Thanks! Ended up buying 1 $200 Visa gift card each on separate receipts.
$10 off PER Transaction so 2 $200 VGCs on the same receipt would only give you $10 off for a $400 purchase.
Does anyone know if they sell the variable gift cards up to $500?
To my knowledge, maximum visa or master gift card value is $200 in my area OD OM.
No. $200 is the max.
they do. this is what i purchased during the last promo.
Pretty sure $500 variable is hard coded against the register… not sure what part of the country you’re from.
scratch what i said. i just remember telling the clerk to load money to each card and just assumed they were $500 cards. but, i just checked my statement to confirm they were all purchases around $400.
Their only variable is $25-$200, both VGC and MCGC.
They do sell variable up to $500, but you can’t pay with a credit card- in most cases it’s hard coded.
OK so now the questions is should I risk getting a corona for the chase ink biz 5% plus plus chase offers 10% back combo ?
Double mask
and ask the clerk if you can open and hold the card for him
The CDC now says that touching surfaces is way less of a problem than original assumed (safe rather than sorry).
…and that quells the fear of Americans.
i’m wondering how many ppl will try to get around the 1 card limit by trying to disguise themselves while wearing their mask.
Thanks for the heads-up! Time to pull some cards out of storage.
