Update 12/10/20: Deal available again.
The Offer
Direct Link to offer (login required)
- Chase is offering 7,500 Ultimate Rewards points when signing up for a The Motley Fool annual subscription for $99.
Not all Chase cards are seeing this offer; for example, I’m seeing 5,000 on my Sapphire Reserve and 7,500 on my Freedom. Others are seeing the 7,500 offer on other cards.
The Fine Print
- Eligible on one (1) subscription per loyalty account number.
- Only eligible on paid 1 year subscription to The Motley Fool. Monthly subscriptions are ineligible.
- Subscription must be active for at least 60 days.
- Not eligible on any free products, trials, services, memberships, subscriptions and retailer marketing subscriptions.
- Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site.
- Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents.
- Purchases made with a gift card may be ineligible.
Our Verdict
If you have the 1.5 Sapphire Reserve cashout as an option, you can cash these points out for $112.50, leaving a small $13.50 moneymaker (possibly less if there’s sales tax). Plus, you’ll earn 297 99 points on the purchase. While it might not be worth the hassle for the small gain, it could especially make sense for someone who values the subscription itself or for someone who values UR points at more than 1.5 cents.
Set yourself a reminder to cancel after 60 days. There is a 30-day money back guarantee from Motley Fool; if there’s some issue with the tracking, you do have a buffer zone.

I’m seeing 15000 UR points for 199 price on my Chase freedom unlimited . Is this good? I forgot to save the $99 back on Amex offer
Has anyone received the $99 credit from Amex yet? I haven’t received this, or some other offers (did receive email confirmation) late January.
Chuck , I’m now seeing at 15,000 point bonus offer on my Ink Cash card.
FYI Amex Offers is now showing a spend $99 get $99 for Motley Fool if you go through their link. It appeared across all of my cards (AF, free, business). Rebates.me also shows $85 cash back but with a few exclusions that includes their cheapest $99 plan. I don’t think I’m going to try it given the restrictions.
Applied the Amex offer, paid $99 + tax for Motley Fool, and got an email from Swagbucks confirming pending SB. Hoping that this pays out compared to the Walmart+ offer.
Does motley fool refund prorated amount if we cancel after 60 days? Thanks
Even if they did (which I doubt), Amex would likely claw back the $99 credit as your purchase would no longer meet the terms.
I subscribed via the offer in the Chase portal, but never receive any acknowledgment email about the bonus offer. So a few days later, I sent a SM and got this reply:
“I have confirmed you have met the criteria for the points earned by shopping through the Chase portal.
Please allow one to two billing cycles for your points to post .”
Is it typical to have to wait up to two months for bonus points to post? While I could just wait it out and hope for the best, or go ahead and cancel Motley Fool directly with them. [I have already decided I have no interest whatsoever in their service].
they should credit the points by next closing statement
Has anyone gotten the bonus twice if you signed up for Motley before?
offer is showing as 7500 CF1/5000 CF2/6000 CSP/5000 CSR.
I heard before that Motley is hard to cancel, as they will keep charging. Anybody else has such concern?
I actually took advantage of this about 2 weeks ago. 7500 points offer on the Chase portal if using the CFU or the CF/CFflex. (Lower offer on the Sapphires). Used the CFU since it earns 1.5x on the purchase aside of the bonus. Like others have pointed out, the $99 offer is on the right side of the page after clicking into the offer (you do see a $199 as well, but look to the right for the $99). After completing the purchase, I received an email confirmation from the portal, that my purchase was logged, mentioning that I should keep an eye out for a forthcoming email on the bonus points. That email confirming the credit of the 7500 points came a few days later. Once it did, I logged back into the portal, this time on my CSR, and used “Pay Yourself Back” for a $99 grocery purchase. At 1.5x, cost of that was 6666 points. (Could have broken it into multiple grocery/dining purchase if needed, but I happened to have a $99 one). Similar to the initial Fool purchase, I received a confirmation email right away that I used Chase PYB, and that I should get another email confirming the purchase had been credited back to me. That email came 3 days later. Net result: Free Motley Fool Stock Adviser for a year, plus 884 UR (7500+50-6666).
is stock advisor one where they suggest 10 stocks? if so mind sharing what they are suggesting? let me know if you rather do it through an email. thanks
The current stocks are CRWD, FVRR, ZM, OKTA, DIS, AMZN, ADSK, SHOP, LMND and ZBRA
tyvm much appreciated. i own SHOP and LMND myself. do you have a subscription yourself and do you think it is worth it?
You used the CFU to earn the UR… but redeemed them on the CSR? I didn’t think UR’s were transferrable from one card to another (I have CFU and CSP and I don’t see a way to transfer UR’s between them, but maybe I am missing something). I also did this deal on the CFU for 7500… and received an email saying my purchase was confirmed, and should get the 7500 UR’s in 3-5 days… plus 150 UR’s for the purchase. But I expect to be able to get only 1x for them on CFU (or 1.25x if redeemed for travel thru UR portal). Not a money maker for me… UNLESS it somehow stacks with the 7500 SB offer that I attempted to do simultaneously (fingers crossed, but not holding my breath, haven’t seen the 7500 SB pending yet.)
OK I just learned it IS possible to move UR’s from one Chase card to another. This is news to me. Great news.
