- The future of TPG on-site comments by TPG. TPG is removing comments on site. Honestly I am so grateful to everybody who leaves comments on this (apart from the trolls and maybe some of the politic discourse). Every day it seems like there is at least 5-10 comments that are extremely useful that cause me to update content on this site or create new content. Obviously TPG is a lot more corporate but it’ll be interesting to see if this decision is reversed or not.

Back in the day, TPG and MMS and MP were all great sites with thoughtful tips and a link or two for cc sign-ups. I always tried to support the ones that were most helpful. I moved on from those sites years ago. Now each article on TPG seems to have a link after every paragraph and often the articles are obviously a bunch of regurgitation of the same old stuff just for clickbait to have more and more sign-up links. They are obviously going for sheer volume of clicks, and well, you gotta take the good with the bad when that’s your focus. They’ve learned the hard way.
What’s MP?

I just Binged it as I was curious and it seems TPG swallowed it up.
I highly encourage people to Google “Brian Kelly workplace atmosphere.” There’s a great BusinessInsider article on his antics, from sexual harassment to doing some hardcore drugs. Appears to be a hot head, too. Seems like he’s spending that money wisely on his lavish lifestyle and cares no more about the community. Good riddance. Any visit to me equals money in his pocket to continue to toxic lifestyle.
One of the best elements of DoC is that both Chuck and William Charles engage in the comments section. This adds tremendous value. Most bloggers that have made it this big have zero (or near zero) engagement in the comment section. Just saying thanks for all you do!
I actually kinda like TPG..
You would
i am not a fan of TPG. They are biased and leave out alot of information that’s crucial for readers. Also they do not tell you any tips and tricks.
I laugh that Richard Kerr is the “Loyalty and Engagement Editor.” How are we supposed to engage with the site when no one can comment. Man, did he sell out fast. I used to respect his opinion and Facebook Group.
Keep up the great work, Doc. Like many have mentioned here, comments can be useful, but the bad apples can pop in, too. Look at Yahoo!, they are following the same route as well. Guess these corporations are sick of being called out and/or having their agenda twisted.
Doc takes the comments like any of these corporations should and edits/adds comments of value. I respect that!
Thank you for continuing to have comments. Many times I’ve read an article somewhere and thought. ” Let me skim through the comments and see if someone else has asked the related question I am pondering.”
To me people’s responses to an article can be as important as the article itself.
It sounded to me like the moderation of the comments took up resources but I think that the comments are very useful for real life experiences with the topic posted. Unfortunately, the past few years have brought out the trolls and folks with axes to grind who are now ruining it for the rest of us. Maybe they should have something like Craigslist where the community can delete posting with enough “dislikes.”
I visit TPG maybe a few times a year…dumb site. Credit card shills.
TGP is a monster..
+1, TPG has become an affliated link revenue machine. Sometimes some useful general CC info.
Looks like Loyalty Lobby has pulled comment section as well.
I too read the comment section and have been tremendously helpful and you find the nuggets as well as the rare Unicorn.
It does seem that since travel shutdowns and WFH that the comment section has become more political and less on topic.
I just let a comment on a LoyaltyLobby post. Doesn’t seem like their comment section is gone.
Comments are still turned on for IHG post but none of the newer post have comments enabled.
It does seem that shutting off comments does seem to be the prevailing trend.
Not referring to DoC, LL and a few other sites but it does seem that far to many blogs/sites don’t want to be fact checked or have BS called on their editorializing.
It does seem that silencing any dissenting POV whether by accident or by design – is cowardly. Shouting, attempting to shame or silence stifles growth an true change – how can you change hearts and minds?
Same here, just yesterday.
