Update 11/18/20: Deal is back (this time minimum spend is $12.99). Offer expires 12/13/2020. Must make first payment by 1/12/2021.

The Offer

Check your Chase Offers for the following deal:

  • Get $5 cashback on Amazon Prime when you spend $14.99 or more

Some people are seeing this in their Bank Amerideals and likely with other banks too.

The Fine Print

  • Valid one time only
  • Not valid on third party purchases

Our Verdict

Probably only useful for people that pay month to month unless your yearly subscription is due.

Offer is back as: “Earn $5 cash back on your Amazon Prime membership purchase, when you spend $14.99 or more.”

My Prime expired last month and I did not renew. Got the Chase offer on my Freedom not listed on Amazon. Added that Freedom. Now I am good for another month. Thanks.

Still waiting for any of these Chase offers that I can actually use, not useless offers that can’t be used online and the nearest location is thousands of miles away.

This deal is for shopping at Amazon, which you CAN place an order online though.

Based on the terms and DoC’s interpretation, it looks like it will just credit for your Prime membership cost, not ANY purchase on Amazon

Seriously.

Already bought 5 years of prime membership before annual cost went up.

Has anyone gotten this one to work/get credited to your account? If so, does it only apply to your membership fee? In other words, does Amazon Prime membership code differently? Or can you apply it to any Amazon purchase? (by changing your Chase/B of A card to your default card) Many thanks in advance!

I took advantage of the offer using the Freedom with that offer. I did not change the preferred spend card. In order to get the credit, you must use the card making the offer for the Prime membership.

I have a question I hope someone can help me with please? I got the deal as”Bank of Amerideals”, but how do I know which card’s being targeted or this deal associated with? I have aggregate account with 2 Cash Rewards and 1 premium Rewards card and the deal just shows up under my aggregate account. How long does it typically take to get the bonus? Thank you.

Any BofA card works to trigger the deal so long as you’ve added the offer to your account beforehand. It’s not card-specific like Chase. See more info here:

It’ll show up as pending under activity if your purchase triggered the deal. Payout takes about 15-30 days.

Thank you. Last week, I did the att (2 x bill pays With Premium Rewards card… lots of ppl reported bill payments work). After both payments posted still never triggered anything inside my rewards portal. It’s only been a week so I will give it a full 30 days before inquiry. I like Chase and Amex which shows clearly which card is associated with.

BAC is very sloooow showing a deal applied. Best bet is check back on your CC if the charge posted.

My Whole Foods through Amazon never triggers, it’s always coded as Amazon Marketplace and then any tips to the delivery is coded as Amazon Tips

I always have to call and complain to b of a, and then it’s eventually credited.

Got one week free. / $12.99 per month after that. / cancel anytime.
Used DoC link and Freedom that gets 5% on Amazon and shows the $5.00 credit.

Not useful to me, but probably smart on the banks part. To do this you’d have to change your Amazon default card to the one with the $5 back. Many people would leave it as the default card. Easy win for the cc issuer.
