[Rumor] Chase Sapphire Reserve Refresh/News Coming On October 5

Update 10/28/20: Chase has also added a Peloton benefit.

Update 10/20/20: Chase has temporarily increased the earning rates.

[Update 10/12/20: Looks like this rumor never materialized.]

Someone on Reddit heard from a Chase rep that there’s some new benefit/news/refresh coming for the Sapphire Reserve card on October 5th. Thought it was worth a quick headsup for someone thinking of which card to get or thinking of cancelling or the like. (Most likely there’ll be some update for the Sapphire Preferred at the same time – my speculation.)

Assuming there is something coming, my guess is one of these three possibilities (I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s all 3):

I had just cancelled mine before annual fee. Does anyone know, if I were to reapply and want to get the signup bonus, are they counting the 48 months from the closing statement date of the statement when the initial bonus was awarded? Or from what date? And does one have to wait 48 months and apply after that date, or just time the required spend to complete after that date? Appreciate any info.

If this was the big CSR announcement, I’m calling in my PC. Pay Yourself Back was rolled out well, but disappointing that Chase hasn’t offered additional value beyond this to incentivize loyalty when travel is kaput https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/grubhub–lyft-team-up-to-bring-new-rewards-to-lyft-pink-members-301146566.html

Seems like this rumor was, well, just a rumor. No announcement from Chase and I called and asked, and the Chase rep said they were not planning any announcements.

If they have an announcement, you’ll see it first thing in the morning TPG, OMaaT, and the other ethically compromised blogs whose posts are get advance info in exchange for obeying embargoes

That’s last week’s news, widely discussed on September 28th.

Do you mean the source: “someone on Reddit heard” … wasn’t a done deal???

Incredible, I know. Perhaps maybe Chase started the rumor to avoid paying consultation fees to a marketing firm for surveying 130+ customers for their feedback so that it may then freely use all of these suggestions for future consideration.

I was quoting myself from Oct 1 when Doc reported the rumor, so better subtract that one from your count of 130+.

Doubt that folks who pay attention to such rumors are a representative set.

They should’ve added grocery to the Freedom line up instead of dining and increased SR to 4x for dining and and travel

Wish they would just add grocery bonus category to dining and travel and this would be a true keeper for me.
