Existing Wyndham Cardholders Will Be Able To Access Old Award Chart – Best Of Both Worlds

In case you didn’t already know, starting today you’ll be able to redeem 15,000 points for any standard room at any Wyndham property (excluding Dolce & Planet Hollywood, with Dolce to come in some time this year), there are also some other changes to the program but that is the major one.

This is good news if you’re wanting to book properties that were tier 5-9 as they are becoming less expensive, but it’s incredibly bad news if you wanted to book properties that were tier 1-4. Below is the old award chart for reference:

Existing Cardholders Will Still Be Able To Access Old Chart

On May 6th, Dadofsix on Flyertalk reported receiving the following e-mail:

For a limited period, our cardmembers can redeem Wyndham Rewards points under the updated Wyndham Rewards program or the existing Wyndham Rewards program.

We recognize that you may have been saving for a particular trip or just want to earn and redeem according to the current program rules past May 11; therefore we have a dedicated team available 7 days a week to help you redeem for Free Night Stays under the current rules even after new program rules take effect. From May 11, 2015 through November 03, 2015, Free Night Stays will be available exclusively to Wyndham Rewards Visa cardmembers starting at 5,500 points for a Tier 1 hotel, up to 50,000 points for a Tier 9 hotel.

Basically this means if you were an existing cardholder then you have until November the 3rd, 2015 to book under the old award chart by calling 1-800-262-1923. I’m not sure what the cut off date was, but presumably signing up now will not let you also access this old award chart (although it never hurts to try).

Final Thoughts

It’s a bit strange that this courtesy is being extended to current credit cardholders, but not those with paid nights at Wyndham. I’d be pretty pissed if I had a bunch of paid stays but not Wyndham credit card and wanted to book under the old program.
