We post a lot of Kroger deals, one thing I never knew was that they have something community rewards where you can select a local charity and Kroger will donate to them based on your spend. You still earn fuel points as normal, so this is in addition to what you’re currently getting. To enroll:
- Log into your account
- Click My Account
- Click Community Rewards
You can do something similar with Amazon & AmazonSmile as well if you haven’t already. It’s always nice to be able to support local charities/charities that you’re passionate about.
Hat tip to someones1
Works with Smith’s Food & Drug here in Utah. It’s called Community Rewards, but is the same program.
If you don’t really have an organization in mind, if you would please consider choosing “cherokee health systems” for your organization.
They provide health services for low income and uninsured as well as people who require mental health assistance. They have been my primary care physician for 10 years now since I am uninsured.
Just an example of how it works, I am on a sliding scale fee, based on income, and I can see the dr, and have my blood drawn for my thyroid and cholesterol levels, and they prescribe my heart/thyroid/and cholesterol meds, and my bill including all that is only $25 (i do have to pay for my own meds though, which I use goodrx).
They operate on donations, and they provide a great service to all the uninsured in my area.
I shop at Fred Meyer and have been doing this for years. The amounts donated per account are small, but if everybody who shopped at a Kroger store signed up for this, the impact would be huge!
I love this type of content (your past PayPal $5 charity was awesome too).
Doesn’t seem to be available on Kroger.com when I log in with my Fred Meyer credentials.
You have to go to MY ACCOUNT logged into Fred Meyer, and then its listed.
I shop at Dillons (a Kroger brand) and signed up for this a long time ago to benefit our agency for people with disabilities.
At one time Visa/MC GC would count toward this. Lots of MS heroes back in the day…
This is how the local elementary, middle, and high schools around me get some of their fundraising funds.
Thanks. Just enrolled. Never knew about this program at Kroger.
Does anyone know how this works for other Kroger stores? I shop at Pick n Save in Wisconsin (a lot … two teenage boys plus 4 other family members) and the P&S account settings do not show that option. But I can login to Kroger and it has the same account info (fuel rewards, shopping history, etc.) and lets me add an organization to support. I am going to try it to see if it works, though nothing appears to be local to me.
Hi, original poster here. My local Kroger is actually a King Soopers and I see it in that account. If you don’t see it then I’d say do exactly what you’re trying — put it into the main Kroger website. I know that adding coupons only available at the main Kroger site will oftentimes port to the sub-store accounts, so perhaps this will work that way as well.
Usually when I add a coupon via the Kroger app, it shows up in the PnS app (under my clipped coupons). I do this occasionally because a coupon will be in the Kroger app but not yet the PnS app.
So I’d guess enrolling via the Kroger app will work for PnS purchases?
Unfortunately, it won’t work. A few years ago, King Soopers didn’t yet participate but City Market did. I logged into City Market, made a selection, and saw my purchases at City Market go to that charity, but purchases at King Soopers did not. (King Soopers started participating 1-2 years ago.)
But it doesn’t hurt to go ahead. Maybe you’ll shop at a Kroger affiliate somewhere else in the country, or if/when it rolls out to P&S, you’ll be ready.
