The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a $25 statement credit by using your enrolled card to spend a minimum of $500+ in a single eligible transaction.

The Fine Print

  • Must spend by 6/30/2021.
  • Limit of 10 statement credits (total of $250)

Our Verdict

Seems to be targeted to American express business cards. I wouldn’t risk purchasing gift cards or cash equivalents given American Express’ track record of shutting down accounts for this sort of thing. Works out to be an extra 5% back if you spend exactly $500. Great deal for real businesses with large single purchases that need to be made.

There is an offer (probably YMMV) out there of one or more purchases (as of very recent) once activated: Spend $500, get $10 back. Extra two percent. Did not use the Spend $500 get $5 last year as was gardening spend. Up to three times in typical American Express fashion.  William Charles

I paid my previous three months $1500 rent in three installments of $500 each and got $75 back.

Used it 3 times so far on my Blue business cash at just over $500 each. The $25 credit + the normal 2% = about 7% cash back. Good if you have to pay a 2 or 3% fee to use a CC.

Can this Visa link be a good estimation if Amex has L3 or L2 with the particular retailer?https://www.visa.com/supplierlocator-app/app/#/home/supplier-locator

Anybody else have info on or try to split a single purchase into multiple $500 transactions? I have a business bill of $2400 or so and was thinking of doing $500*3 + $900. Will I get $25*4 back?

Should work as long as the business is OK with it. I’d probably do $600×4 personally rather than exactly the minimum.

Confirmed to work, even if the charge is titled exactly the same and they are charged on the same day. I did installment payments for some dental work, and had the last three charged on 5/28 in the amounts of $500, $500, and $520. Three $25 credits posted 3 days later.

If you think you’ll owe estimated taxes, you can also make multiple >$500 payments. Each processor supports 2 1040-ES payments each year, so you could theoretically do 6 1040-ES transactions of $500 each. There’s a 2% fee on each one, so you’re spending 2% to get 5% back + points – worth it IMO, although personally I’d only do 5 transactions and save one “payment” in case you need to use it towards the end of the year.

I logged in and saw a pop up for this offer. Accepted the offer from the pop up but it’s not showing in “added to card” section.
Do I really have the offer added? Anyone else in the same boat?

Morris My offer shows in “added to card” section and if I recall correctly did immediately after activating. If you got an email, try clicking through that again to see if it gives you another chance to activate.

Anyone try a Venmo transaction? Can’t organically spend enough to max this out, so I’d be willing to pay a 3% fee for a smaller profit

DP – each of my purchases >$500 has triggered and email but the purchases of exactly $500 did not. Terms say “An “eligible purchase” means a purchase of at least $500..” not greater than so those still should work but odd that for me those exact purchases are not generating emails.

DP – Credits posted for all including those of exactly $500 that didn’t generate emails. Took two to eight days to post.

I spent $500 about 6 days ago and the credit didn’t post yet, it seems to take longer than usual. Anyone gets them sooner?

I haven’t had any of my credits post on this yet either. Didn’t get a notification that the offer was used either.

I received one email notification on the first usage but not on the subsequent purchases and none have posted yet or show in on the “savings” tab of amex offers. Per the DPs below it takes a while to post so I’m not worried. I’m also not buying anything just to get the offer and not on things that would be bonus categories for others so 2% is competitive even if the credit doesn’t post.

Hi, is there a way to split the purchase on the same card? I just purchased a dell computer for $2230. I’m only getting one $25 credit for spending over $500. Anyway to split to 4 times? 500 500 500 500 230?
