Sharing my experience here:
On several occasions, I’ve noticed that the gift cards don’t pair up well with the usual promotions that are running for a particular restaurant.
The gift cards are for some reason redeemed as a discount rather than a payment instrument
They don’t let you make claims against an order after 2-3 days even if it was for billing reasons
They also don’t have a clean way for you to manage or view the gift card history

I’ve had the opposite experience. I get a lot of DoorDash credit(gift cards) through self refer and they stack with other promos(like 20% off at various restaurants) while companies like Uber have it so their referral bonuses for the referrer are discounts($15 off $20 or $10 off $25) and therefore do not stack with other promos
