Update 6/8/21: Wells Fargo has announced that this card will be released on July 1st and will have the following benefits:

- Card earns 2% cash back on all purchases

Original post: Reddit user LA-and-SF reports that Wells Fargo will release a new credit card called the Active Cash Card on July 1, 2021. The card is being touted internally as their best cash back card ever. No details on the exact rewards structure.
This aligns with the discontinuation of the Propel card and the promise by their CEO that, “we’re working on developing a significantly improved value proposition that we can introduce to the market.”

More like Active Trash given the best card ever hype.
I see what you did there…
I need another 2% card but Id like one with a better sign up bonus- keesler has one but its sign on bonus is even worse– $100 for a $1500 spend
I only have the fidelity 2% card and I would prefer not to use it except during nov & dec every year as they have an annual bonus deal based on average spending– I can keep avg spend down on that card if I had another 2% card
2% cards rarely have good SUBs because they’re not that profitable for banks compared to other products. $200 is actually pretty good for a 2% card that doesn’t have an annual fee. Most 2% cards have $0 to $100 as a SUB.

why is there a foot note for $0 annual fee? what’s the catch this time WF? kidney? arm? legs?
Wonder if they’ll let me upgrade to this card.
Can confirm they will allow. In fact, it’ll let you do it in the app.
Nice to have a 2% card with a sign up bonus. Honestly, not interesting considering the many other 2% cards as is. I was hoping the card had no FTF to make it interesting, but it has the standard 3% fee. Only question is what is the min redemption amount?
“Wells Fargo is gonna signing me up for one. hahahaha.” oh did someone make this joke already
“Active Cash” is a lazy name for a lazy product, but at least it’s not called “Customized Cash”.
Honestly, this could be a good thing for cashback users. It’ll encourage other banks with 1.5% cards to bump up their reward rate.
This card has the potential to steal Citi DC customers if it offers some additional benefits and waives foreign transaction fees. One card that can be used everyday, pretty much everywhere with a solid 2% back with no travel loops to jump through can be a very compelling offer for those looking for simplicity.
