8/4 – opened account using targeted banner within Citi online banking (Citi DC holder)
8/5 – $15k deposit
10/27 – withdrew $13.5k on Day 84 (kept $1.5k balance to waive monthly fees)
2/9 – opened dispute with Citi on Day 189 after never receiving the bonus
2/18 – Citi responds that they “are not aware of any promotions offered in conjunction with the opening of
your account”
2/23 – CFPB complaint submitted
3/7 – Citi responds “Upon review, our records reflect you did meet the terms and conditions of the promotion in question. However, due to a systematic error at account opening, the promotion was not applied to the account. Due to this issue, we have credited you checking account with the $400.00 promotion bonus as of March 7, 2022.”

I’ve had to file disputes with Citi in the past to get a bonus to pay out, but this is the first CFPB complaint I’ve had to file with them.

Moral of the story: don’t ever expect anything to go smoothly when dealing with Citi, but they will eventually pay out if you’re persistent.

Mine still hasn’t posted. Transferred money in on August 10th. Opened via targeted email link.

Called today to check as it’’s past 90 days. Was told my offer was for a priority account only. There was no way for me to attach the targeted email to the chat. Sigh…always a battle with Citi on bank offers. Not worth the trouble.

I called and was told that bonus posts after 90 days from day 61(day 1 starts when the balance was in the account within that initial 20 days). We are looking at least 150 days for bonus to post from start to finish. In my case, mine falls on Jan 1st week. Will see if it holds true on what they told.

Anyone ever have problems with Citi auto approving a checking account then closing it a couple of days later? I can never do these bonuses because they keep closing my accounts have a day. Now my funding is stuck in limbo again.

By reading the terms, does this mean I need to keep the high balance for 61 days (between 20th day and 81st days) after opening the account. Then on the 82nd day, I can reduce the balance to $1500 to avoid fee and keep $1500 until the bonus is paid?

Am I correct?

Signed up for this in July as I was targeted – the account is still OPEN. Today, I received the SAME targeted offer via email, AGAIN. Possible to have more than one account? In the targeted offer, I do not see any language that says otherwise (not even the 180 day language).

EDIT: Nevermind.
“Multiple Offers

If you enroll in multiple checking account offers during an offer period and fulfill multiple checking account offers in the same month, you will be awarded the offer with the highest bonus value. If you enroll in multiple checking account offers during an offer period and fulfill multiple checking account offers across different months, you will be awarded the bonus of the first checking offer to qualify. Customers can only participate in each checking account offer once per offer period. If you enroll in multiple checking account or savings account offers during the Offer Period, the requirements of each offer must be met separately.”

“Cash deposits … and person‑to‑person transfer services such as Apple Pay, PayPal, and Venmo, and Zelle, do not qualify as New‑to‑Citibank Funds.”

WTF not?!?!?!

Has anyone been able to open this over the phone? The agent said they can’t see the offer targeted for my Citi Premier. They are seeing only the public offer. There is no invitation code in my email as well.

Probably I will call some other day.
