Our Verdict
If you buy a $200 Visa gift card and a $100 Visa gift card, the total will come out to $297.90; or buy two $200 Visa gift cards for a total of $398.90. This deal isn’t being advertised, but people are reporting seeing this in stores. They usually offer a deal the week following Staples.
The discount stacks beautifully with the Chase/BofA/Wells/etc Offer to get 10% off Office Depot, up to an $8 discount. Or you can use a card like the INK Cash/Plus which earns 5x at office supply stores. Also note, Dosh offers 2% back at Office Depot/Max, though the terms exclude gift cards from earning.

Is this continuing next week?
Is this a one time offer? Can be applied everyday or on different cards?
YMMV
No signage, but worked for 2x$200 Visas in NC.
For the person who asked about split payment, the cashier told me yes, you can, I put in the card that had the 10% off up to $8, it processed the whole charge, and then she said “oh yeah I can’t control that.”
I guess she thought I had a gift card with a fixed amount on it? But I wouldn’t have been able to buy a gift card with a gift card. Lost about a third of the savings on the deal vs using another card and half vs an actual split payment, but the $15 off worked at least. I wouldn’t risk trying to split payment.
They can control it.
Indeed they can. My cashier had no problem splitting payment between two cards exactly as I asked.
Just an FYI, it also works on the variable load Grocery Everywhere cards
Anyone having luck scaling this up? All of the store managers in my area have clamped on purchasing multiple sets. Ocassionly they will allow 2 transactions. Most stores are restricted to 1 transaction only per day. My guess is OD corporate told the store managers to set the limit to 1 transaction per customer per day.
No signage. Cashier tried it anyway and no discount showed up on the register.
Just fyi the discount dos not appear until the final stage of checkout. I do not see the discount when they first ring it up but after they proceed with the checkout and it asks what type of receipt you want then on the next step it takes the discount. They said this happens for dals where the discount is applied to a combination of more than one items. Your store may just not have had the special but just mentioning this in case.
Double check your OD/OM carefully. My store still had last week;s MCGC offer up.
I talked to the store – They checked twice to verify should be vGC this week. Got that fixed before my purchase was rung up. I got my CIC chase offer activated and took advantage ot that.
DP: Worked on a variable spend Visa GC (can be loaded with $20-$200) and a $100 Visa GC. My store did not have signage, but it rang up properly at the register. They did check my ID. Had the $8 offer on my Ink card, so this was a great deal. Thanks for posting!
