[YMMV, Referral Offer] American Express Gold 90,000 Points

Update 11/27/22: Offer is again/still showing for some via referral link

Update 8/1/22: Some people are now seeing the 90,000 offer via referral links. YMMV as most others see 60,000 there. Trying multiple times or a varying browsers/IP/VPN can sometimes can produce the offer. Do not post or solicit referrals in the comments. Some are finding this without needing a referral link as well.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • American Express is offering a sign up bonus of 90,000 points after $4,000 on the Gold card

Card Details

Our Verdict

Previous best offer was 75k points + 20% on restaurants up to $250. This is offer is better depending on how highly you value Membership Rewards points. We would add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

Date 03/04/2023 I finally was able to see the referral link for 90k points and had my wife open a gold card.
Problem is my annual fee posted on 02/12 , and have just a few days left , is it possible to receive the bonus before i close my card?

Hey everyone. Have a situation. I already know I effed up. But I am just now learning I did not receive the 90k MR points after spending $4k in 6 months. I made more than that but apparently some purchases, like for gc, were invalidated. Yeah, I did not read the terms lol I know this game is cuthroat so I will let it go. Any chance anyone been on the same boat and got lucky getting the points after all?

I opened a business account and misread the terms of 5k within 20 days for 60k points , and did it in 22 days, they would not bother even if i close the account so i did yesterday. but no exceptions.

I received a referral from a friend for the AMEX Gold 90,000 recently. I received an email saying that the application went depending, and there was no pop-up when I applied. A little while later, I received an email saying that it was approved. I previously had the premier rewards gold card right before it switched over to the new gold card. That was about 4 or 5 years ago. Last year, I received an offer to upgrade that gold card to a vanilla platinum (which I also had previously but was eligible for the upgrade bonus), and I just recently closed it when the annual fee came around. I called in to ask if I was eligible and they weren’t able to determine it. What is the general consensus here about this situation? Based on the fact that there was no pop-up when I applied and it went to pending, is it safe? Thanks.

Would it be OK to post the person’s referral link of 90,000 offer for the community to use if someone wants to apply for a AMEX Gold card? Kind of win-win

No, we sometimes make dedicated posts, but certainly not here. It gets difficult when it’s only on some links since everyone ends up leaving links that don’t have the offer.

Agreed. It could be confusing

75k chrome / safari incognito. 30k referral makes it tempting tho

Got a targeted via email. Is it safe for p2 to apply with it?

An email offer won’t be a referral.

Not coming up through referral unfortunately.

Is this the all time best pure points offer.

Sort of. In the spring there was a 90k offer with an extra 20% on restaurants, up to $250.

Just checked and I have it via referral but it’s an interesting decision whether to do this or have P2 do 75k + $250. Basically do you value MR more or go for the cash if can you hit the restaurant spend for the extra 250

The 15k MR point difference can be worth more than $250 depending on your redemption rate, especially with transfer bonuses.

Have an add an authorized user and get 10K MR points on my gold. If I add P2 as as AU now, will they still receive SUB when they apply for their own card in few months?

DP: i think its worth mentioning the welcome offer shows on my referral link page for 90k amex gold, but when I actually apply, it says I am not eligible for the welcome offer so it’s pretty misleading
