[Update] American Express Platinum Expands $240 Digital Entertainment Credit Options (Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+)

(Update 4/8/22: FM notes that you can use the $20 credit for HBO Max by signing up for this Hulu + HBO Max bundle plan for $21.99 and getting full access to HBO Max content in their app. Others note that you can add channels like Showtime, etc, in the Hulu app as well.)

American Express has expanded their options on what you can use the $20 monthly Digital Entertainment Credit on the Platinum card to include:

  • Hulu
  • Disney+
  • ESPN+
  • The Disney+ bundle

Some nice additions here. This is in addition to the previous options:

  • Peacock
  • Audible
  • SiriusXM
  • The New York Times

The credit will still remain $20 per month, just more options to use it. Remember, you need to enroll in this benefit first (enrollment link here). And be sure to go through a shopping portal if you are signing up for the Disney+ bundle.

Looks like disney now sells gift cards. Think this would trigger the $20 streaming credit?

Looks like this applies for only Personal Platinum card. I thought its available for Buzz Platinum as well and tried to enroll but couldn’t able to enroll when clicked Enroll now. Later, I called Amex CS and they said its available just for Personal Platinum card. Bummer.

I’m gettin Hulu covered by Verizon. Does anyone have Verizon, and added HBO Max to their Hulu account – are you getting the Amex credit?

I have 0.99 Hulu from Christmas last year, added Disney from Hulu for 2.99. Today, the meter moved to show the credit receive for this purchase. Planning to add showtime or starz next.

Would this credit work for Hulu Live TV? If so, may be worth switching over from YTTV..

My monthly bill from Hulu (tv, etc) is $70. I bought a $50 Hulu Gift card (from a third party) in the hopes that I’d be on the hook for a $20 bill that I could put on my Platinum card. No dice. $50 is worth ~22 days of my plan, so they just moved my payment date 22 days ahead and I’ll own $70 then. Still haven’t figured out how to get just $20 to go towards Amex.

My 0.99 Hulu account has the Disney+ add on for $2.99 DId not even have to unsubscribe from Audible. I can also switch Audible to HBOMax add on and stay below $20

I have the same. For 6 months or so, Hulu (which I never use), Disney+ and HboMax credits is cool. Will suck when Hulu goes back to $6.99 in November.

Doctor M It will actually total $21.47 per month after the taxes, so we’ll be paying $1.47 out of pocket for Hulu with ads, Disney+ and Hbo Max.

This is actually valuable now. I probably wouldn’t value the full $20 at face value, but it would essentially cover the Disney bundle and Peacock. I only have Hulu but there have been instances of wanting some of the other services for select programs.

At most I would count this at a $120 offset towards the annual fee. Could be better, but I was valuing this at $0 before.

The same error for all my cards 🙁

Prologer Wrong thread? That looks like the error message for chase. If that is the case, use a new private browser window for each card.

Sorry, I had 2 DoC tabs opened and posted to the incorrect one. Yes, it was regarding the Chase bonuses. Great guess!
And thanks for the advice, it solved my problem!

Use DoC’s link to signup for a new rebatesme.com account offering $35 bonus after earning $10 in rebatesme rewards, which just happens to be what one will earn when he subscribes to the Disney Bundle through the rebatesme portal. Bingo – a $45 money maker and a monthly Bundle fee paid for with Digital Entertainment credits.
