Really? Chase knows very well where they can stick this “offer”, be intentional about an offer and substitute the Marriott gold with a Hyatt Explorist, or even a Discoverist that is better than the Marriott gold.

Sadly status isn’t recognized at vacation club properties (although you can book reservations at vacation club properties using bonvoy points) so if you plan on staying at vacation club resorts then this promotion is worthless.

Before the SPG merger that used to mean something, upgrades and free breakfast. No longer.

Yes, as someone earlier said Amex does give much better perks for less work. However, Marriott Gold status does still mean something. I recently was given a very nice upgrade at a recent Marriott stay which I booked using points only. So happy.
