Second time applying for the biz card, pending for a week then got approved. Bonkers credit line of $25k. First time had the card my credit line was only $3k lol.
These miles are valuable but Korean Air is often one of the most expensive options. Many ICN lounges are still Covid-closed. Plus, Korea is still in full Covid freak out; the government lifted the mandatory outdoor mask requirement in May but 100% of Koreans are still fully masked absolutely everywhere 24/7, including driving and hiking alone at 3am in the mountains. They are afraid to unmask. Little tots are growing up there never having seen a single face other than their parents’.
It is funny how wearing a mask has been such a political issue here. Something you need to know is masking has been popular even before COVID in S Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc. These countries are super populated hence infectious diseases have been a huge concern for a long time. I even know many girls who wear masks just to save time putting on makeup. So if you don’t like people wearing a mask maybe you should just stay away from asian countries altogether. Nobody wants you there for your attitudes anyway.

You made it political. My point was that if you use Korean Air miles to go to Korea, you may want to reconsider until the shock wears off there.
I have lived in Korea half my life and speak the language. Before Covid, it was rare to see anyone wearing a mask in Korea — only the occasional ‘patient’ (they can walk around in clinic pajamas outside) and only in large cities, never in the countryside before this outbreak. But the effect of this event has been that despite the government’s encouragement to unmask, no Korean wants to go first. They remain masked because everyone else remains masked. This they admit freely.
The miles are useful but Korea as a destination I cannot recommend until the fear subsides.
You and Kundan below bring out the politics. The information about kids growing up not knowing how to read faces is just beginning to get the attention of academia, from where it will eventually trickle down to the populace. I worry about these kids.
Gee, thanks for worrying about our kids but I am sure Korean society won’t crumble because we wear masks. Besides, I see plenty of white tourists walking around without masks in countries where it is mandatory so I am sure most of them don’t care anyway.
I agree with you regarding Asia and its culture of hygiene. But to be fair, the OP’s comment did not complain about mask wearing as a bad thing to do. We can be sensible and agree with (1) mask wearing is a force for good in the fight against transmissible diseases, (2) it can be inconvenient and uncomfortable, and (3) from time to time some people may be excessively cautious to the detriment of everyone. I always keep my mask on when required, to be polite, or is socially expected, but I agree with the OP that it’s more fun to visit a destination when its COVID-related restrictions are more relaxed.

I literally just hiked a moutain in Korea for 9 hours and not one person was wearing a mask…I passed literally 80 people! And no… people don’t wear a mask while they drive unless they’re operating a taxi. Oh, and I was in the lounge at ICN just two weeks ago.

This link is still up and running; however, you have to enter Korean Air skypass number from previously got a targeted mail from US Bank who is allowed to give for 45k referral. I got this mail last year, but it looks like this link still works.
BTW, I am not sure DoC ever had a referral page for this promotion.
It looks like I would need to put in your sky pass number too for you to get credit. Wish there was a way for you to get credit without you having to divulge personal info… if you’re comfortable, let me know but probably not worth 5k miles?
Isn’t the devaluation still slated for early 2023? Kind of forces you to use it quickly.
Supposedly the Korean government told KE that they couldn’t do that, but rumor is that KE is going to try to ignore the government and do it anyway. There’s a thread on flyertalk in the Korean Air forum about this.
Good bonus (sorta), but Skypass has gutted their awards and don’t offer F (First class) via awards any longer (only paid F).
Korean miles used to be very valuable because they released so much award space in premium cabins to their own members. But that is no longer the case. This card is a hard pass for me.
