Wells Fargo has announced that legacy credit cards will be converted to the Wells Fargo Active Cash on August 20, 2022, with the new card arriving by mid September 2022. This only affects very old Wells Fargo cards that run on a different login system.
Can you clarify ‘different login systems’? Is the WF Propel AMEX being converted?
I don’t have the exact dates, but some insight: Up until somewhere around the 2008 recession, Wells Fargo had a separate subsidiary called Wells Fargo Financial. This was NOT a WF bank, but like little shops in strip malls, A-la a check cashing business. They would issue short-term loans, credit cards to people with bad credit, etc. THESE are the cards we’re talking about.
As far as I can tell, old WF Signature Visa, Propels, Cash Wise’s, etc. would still be OK as it was issued by WF Bank, N.A., NOT “Wells Fargo Financial.”
Your history lesson for the day.
(I worked at WF Bank briefly before the “dark times.”)
I don’t believe you I’m going to continue freaking out about all Wells Fargo cards until people stop telling stale boomer jokes about fraudulent accounts
I’d like that card that has the horse and buggy, looks cool.

By the looks of it, it seems only two cards are getting the conversion
I was looking to product change my Cash Wise, but now it’s saying I can’t (before it said I can I was just waiting to see what other cards they would release before switching). The error I get is
Credit Card Switch is currently unavailable because of an upcoming change to your card’s benefits, communicated in your June statement.
does anyone know what this is about?
On reddit someone said they called in and PC wouldn’t be available until September
Good to know, thank you
Will this apply to Cash Wise? Will Wells Fargo report it as a new account if I convert it myself before the deadline?
When I converted my Cash Wise to Active Cash, no change in credit reports – still says 4+ years on the card in my transunion report.

Wouldn’t PC Cashwise to this make you miss out on Active’s $200 bonus?
Just trying to understand the rationale behind product change.
Wells fargo reports a new account to credit bureaus when converting credit cards. Consider closing instead if you care about 5/24
2019 called and wants its Wells Fargo jokes back.
Wells Fargo is a joke.
So don’t open an account. Are you struggling with that concept?
+1
We’ve heard them all before.
Because Wells Fargo previously made them for us without our consent.
It’s so cringe worthy. Every time I see a Wells Fargo post I prepare myself for the tired boomer humor.
it’s funny because Jim Cramer on CNBC always recommends Wells Fargo and I can’t think of any use for that bank. I assume it’s because of all the home loans. The credit card portfolio is lame.
So not only does WF automatically open cards for you but it also automatically product changes them for you years after you’ve forgotten that you didn’t apply for them. This is what hands-off banking is all about!

fortunately this new one offers the cell phone protection that my propel card does, if the propel is one of the ones affected
