[Live] Walmart+ Adds Paramount+ Essential Subscription Streaming Benefit ($60 Annual Value)

(Update 9/8/22: Now live)

Walmart announced today a new partnership with the Paramount+ streaming service: subscribers of Walmart+ will get a Paramount+ Essential subscription at no extra cost. That’s the basic streaming membership level which costs $4.99/month and comes with some ads. The benefit begins in September.

Walmart+ costs $98/year or $12.95/month and now more closely resembles the Amazon Prime subscription which comes with the Prime Video benefit on top of the regular shopping and delivery benefits.

Walmart+ comes as a free benefit for Amex Platinum cardholders, so this will affect a lot of people. Some of us do the monthly free codes to get free ad-free Paramount+, though it could be useful to have a steady membership. I wonder if they’ll allow incrementally upgrading to the ad-free version which usually costs $9.99/month.

I had to renew my Paramount+ subscription via Walmart+ today. I guess I have to do it on a monthly basis (I have the monthly Walmart+ subscription).

HOW TO DO THIS IF YOU’RE ALREADY A SUBSCRIBER

As @TheBlindLife said, this is not intuitive and there’s nothing to indicate success, but here’s what you do:

(This assumes you have already cancelled your Paramount+ subscription and let it expire. This is required. Once you get the e-mail from Paramount+ saying your subscription expired, follow these steps.)

1) Sign into WalMart+.
2) Click the “Get Paramount+” button. This takes you to a Paramount+ sign-up page.
3) Ignore the sign-up form and click the “Sign in” link in the upper right corner of the page.
4) Sign in using your existing Paramount+ credentials.
Done…

To verify:
1) Go to your account settings in Paramount+.
2) If it says “Walmart” under “Subscription and Billing”, you’re good. (If not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Not intuitive at all. This method worked for me. Thanks for the detailed step-by-step instructions!

Setting up with Walmart+ was not an intuitive process. First, it wasn’t under the Walmart+ section where Spotify was, instead it’s under Services tab. Once you click link, you’re then directed to Paramount+ page. I already had account I let lapse, so I just signed in. Brought me to the shows and Hub section.
No success message. No email, nothing. I only knew it worked when I went to subscription and payment section. There it showed I was subscribed through W+.

Has anyone who is _already a Paramount+ subscriber_ completed the process? It appears that you need to 1) Cancel your Paramount+ subscription, 2) Wait for it to run out (the end of your current billing cycle), and then 3) Create a NEW Paramount+ account. That last bit is irksome. That means using a different e-mail address and losing all of the information on what I’ve watched, etc.

You need to cancel your plan and setup once the billing cycle ends. No need to create account. You can use existing account credentials. Stated in Paramount+ FAQ’s.

T-Mobile also offers a year of Paramount Plus, in case you don’t have the Platinum card benefit.

Can I ask what’s wrong with the app? I use on ATV.

Depends … the app constantly hangs on commercials on Fire TV, but on Roku, any mobile device, or in the browser, it seems to work just fine.

I currently have Paramount+ with ads and there are about ten minutes of commercials per one hour show,

Some amex cards have promo for 3 months back. Stack those with new sub cashback. (Avoid ads)

not free though, right? It’s $9 back, not 9.99 (plus tax if unlucky to live in a streaming tax state).

I don’t have an issue with ads. I appreciate the time to get up instead of getting caught up and watching for hours without getting up.
