Our Verdict
Normally it’s 5x, but seems like it’s 10x this month.
Didn’t get 10x but just got 5x on my Custom Cash card for these:
✓ Clothing Stores
✓ Office Supply Stores
✓ Consumer Electronic Stores
✓ Department Stores
None overly useful for me, although I guess if Staples does a deal on Visa gift cards it would be a good deal, and it’s good through 11/30, so maybe good for a deal on Black Friday.
Received the offer via snail mail, for the Citi Double Cash only, although I also have Citi Custom. No chance of me going to a show around here, probably not even a movie theatre…so I guess I’ll have to spend $250 at restaurants by Halloween to max out….also pretty unlikely. But I’ll be glad to earn 10% on any dining, even drive-through.
I got this in the mail last week, using the 10x for AA miles instead of CSR at restaurants .
Got the email for one of my Citi DC cards on Aug 19th
Subject line: “*NAME*, Earn 10% back on eligible Restaurants & Select Entertainment purchases using your Citi Double Cash Card.”
Received 10x AA Miles at restaurants and theaters and certain entertainment
I got 5x miles on online purchases.
Got nothing as usual
I never get these. Are they sent in an email?
Sometimes email (if you’re subscribed to marketing emails from Citi), sometimes mail—but in any case, you can always chat with a rep to have them check your account for promotional spending offers.
I often have to clarify that I’m looking for spend offers like “5% back on purchases in certain categories,” or else they sometimes start talking to me about balance transfers and such.
Same, I chatted with them a couple of weeks ago regarding any spending offers available and they activated this for me via chat.
