Our Verdict
Basically the differences are as follows, on the Voyager card you get 5k less Expedia points but an additional $100 statement credit if you make a $100+ purchase on Expedia. With the Expedia+ no annual fee card, you get 5k less points and a $50 statement credit when you make a $50+ purchase on Expedia.
Expedia points are worth 0.7¢ each when redeeming for hotels, unless the hotel is VIP hotel in which case the value i doubled making them worth 1.4¢. I think the new offers will be better than the old for most people, but they do require an Expedia booking so might not make sense for most people.
I still don’t think these cards make sense for the majority of people. Let’s take the Voyager card for example, the annual fee is not waived and the points are worth about $140. You could get a maximum value of $200 out of the statement credits, but I don’t think it’s fair to consider them the equivalent as cash at all, to me they are probably worth half that or less. After taking into account the annual fee you’re looking at about $145 in value from this card.
If you can max everything out perfectly, you’d get more value out of this card obviously but I just don’t think that’s realistic for most people. There are no direct non affiliate links to the new deals, but I’m sure you can easily find them on some of the other blogs with affiliate links.
there are new higher offers for these cards via dummy booking 50k/20k
Does booking a flight or hotel through Expedia still earn you loyalty miles/points with the airlines or hotels? And is there a list of which OTAs will allow you to earn miles/points with the airlines and hotels?
“There are no direct non affiliate links to the new deals”
We should care why?
Because when you click on an affiliate link, and your app gets approved, the person whose link you clicked gets PA$D. In other words, you have the ability to choose who gets paid.
