Capital One To Launch New Airport Lounges ‘Capital One Landings’ (LGA & DCA)

Capital One has announced plans for a new airport lounge concept called ‘Capital One Landings’. The first two locations will be New YorkLaGuardia Airport (LGA) & Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Previously Capital One has announced airport lounges for DEN, DFW & IAD.

The difference between those lounges and the new Capital One Landings branding is that Capital One Landings will focus on dining with José Andrés Group to curate both food and beverage options. This is what we know about each lounge so far:

  • LGA:
    • 10,700 square feet
    • Located in the pedestrian bridge that connects western concourse in the new Terminal B
    • Indoor and outdoor dining options
  • DCA:
    • 5,483 square feet
    • Located after security at the intersection of National Hall and Concourse D

No opening date (or even month or year) has been released.

It’s great that C1 announced the two new lounges, but they need to get the prior two they announced open. Let’s get real–they have one lounge open.

I have been completely tied to Amex for many years, but the recent improvements with Capital One are making it difficult to stay. If they keep adding lounges and the new premium hotel program is good (I doubt it will be as good as FH&R, but maybe) I can see dropping Amex. I booked multiple rooms this summer through the portal and found it easy, rewarding, and cheap. The personal platinum 5X on direct flight bookings is tough to beat, but I did get some money back for C1 flights booked through the portal when the prices fell. I give them credit for creating a straightforward card that benefits customers like me.

Guess I’m the only one unhappy with Capital One:

1. Portal prices are higher than almost everywhere else and require a bigger hassle if you want to cancel or change the reservation;

2. Customer service is limited ONLY to phone calls (with a 30+ minute wait last week). They don’t have chat or messages you can use to contact them;

3. The credits they promised for using the portal are missing for lots of folks since August;

4. Those lounges… they still aren’t built – only one lounge actually exists- DFW;

5. Bad technology – their points transfer system was down for almost 3 weeks – and they still haven’t explained why;

6. For a $400 annual fee, we deserve better. Hell they almost make Citibank look good;

Capital One has been over promising and under performing.

Honestly I dont feel the value quite the same with the Platinum (had four personal cards at the start of 2022) Will downgrade to Gold the rest at AF time (unless they pony up a nice retention bonus).

In many ways VenX is more valuable for us with 3 PP lounges at PDX and free PP AU cards. We also signed up with the 100K and the VRBO/AbNB credit.
But the card if you only travel enough to use the Annual Travel credit and 10K points to erase a travel purchase its a net $5 winner

We also don’t have Clear at PDX and its slower or equal wait for security anymore (so that $189 for Primary +1 )

But used PP 16x for meals (resturants) and one spa visit since January and will use it 6± more times before AF posts (24 x $56 =$1,344)

While the three transition airports we visit the most after home hub (SEA,SFO, DEN) all three have CL lounges but close earlier than PP resturants, can visit on arrival and allow 2 people vs Amex CL, no visits on arrival unless transiting close at 8 PM or earlier -(most PP are 5:30A-10:30PM except lounges some are odd hours for Intl carriers lounges). Amex does have bar (but so do some of the PP lounges and Cap 1 lounges). I have also had to wait to get into Amex Escape/CL lounges this year or Grab n Go only food (SfO) last week.

I guess its all where you fly/to from and time of day as to which is more valuable bemefit.

I have had the venture and it’s been a mixed bag. They game me a 10k minimum spend with a 3k credit limit and have been slow walking my repayments. I am used to a higher credit limit. Csr not the best.

That and the fact that lax lounge access sucks for pp making me or my wife hesitant to get the v x. May just downgrade to the no AF V and call it a educational trial.

Good offers and interesting products, but execution with c1 is a bit lacking. Also someone needs to realize that the only cc lounge access is pretty much just Amex.

Lol it’s been 18 months since Dulles was announced and it still isn’t open. This announcement doesn’t mean much.
