Just redeemed 200k two weeks ago . . .
Happy to get these. Booked direct J ORD-CDG for 59000 MRs each way. About $360 on fees vs cash price of more than $6600. Too many MRs to fly coach…
I had thought per their terms points transfer would not extend points. Ok I realized that only applies to points earned from flight. The cc transfer points can be extended. Still have somewhat hard feeling on FB. Years ago I made a blunder to switch a UA flight to AF. Instead of 8k+ UA points I only got 2k+ points, then I figured out it was harder to extend.
Per terms it’s not supposed to work, but it does. Is it a glitch? Who knows. It’s been working form more than a year. Was still working today I can verify. Caveat is it only work for points transferred from credit card not flight earned points.
Good if you have immediate use. I do not like their expiration policy as it’s harder to extend the points. Also thought I had seen 30% a couple of years ago?
There was 30% in July 2021, I can see that on my balance. Pretty easy to extend the points via 1000 MR transfer as long as they are cc transfer points. Flying Blue is pretty garbage right now though, I’m seeing ~0.5 cpp best case for flights vs. cash. Might as well do a balance statement credit at Amex.
Just like every other airline, lots of garbage rates but also a few ridiculously high value redemptions. Got JFK to IST for a measly 30k round trip for next summer in main cabin, netting 5-6c per point which is unheard of for main cabin
It’s not that the points prices are that abnormal, just that the cash prices are rock bottom. For your example I’m seeing a lot of economy for $379 cash in June for JFK-IST, where there is $250 in fees for points at any prices. So the difference is $130, you’d need to find a flight for 13k round trip just to get 1cpp.
Like clockwork. 3 days after I already booked!
Got 2 business class tickets one way from DC to Paris for 140k points.
Face value was $10,960
How much were fees? When we book AF to CDG or LYS, it’s usually around $250/ticket.
