Hat tip to Dans Deals
Too tall and too old to deal with economy tickets on an overseas flight. Took advantage of the 30% bonus with Air Canada to get a biz class ticket from Milan to Chicago for 54K. So, I will cope 😉
Just booked round trip to Australia for spring break!
i have the united gateway card. idk what’s going on with this united site but for me it’s showing direct revenue flights but searching with miles only displays flights with layovers. not a good promotion for my situation…
Exactly same thing here
thanks doc. Had a 70k round trip booked to to Japan in January. Just rebooked and got 28k points back!
You can also get the discount for flight from Europe to USA if you book as one way.
i.e. round trip originating in Europe shows maybe 48k miles.
But if you book them separate the flight to USA is 24k and flight back is 18k. Saving 6k per person total roundtrip.
I have a Chase United Explorer card and can transfer some Chase UR to United.
2/8/2023 – 2/12/2023 PDX – MAD shows 36k RT + $53.78 taxes and fees, is that before or after discount? It’s unclear, thanks.
Eligible fares will show both the original and discounted award price along with a “special mileageplus offer” descriptor.
I had to log out and log back in to get the CC bonus discount to show up. You should be seeing discounted 15k + fees for each leg of the trip if you have card and premier account.
Just booked round trip for 4 to Australia for spring break for 160k. Kind of crazy, but I guess I can cancel if I think better of it later.
I wish they put which part of europe for the sale. Kinda makes it very open…

Oh yea thanks. Should have just scrolled down. Also darn me for being a slow MF. All of the 21k flights to tokyo during “potential cherry blossom” season is booked. GAHHHHHHHHHHH
Cherry blossom season doesn’t usually start until after the last date 03/21/2022. But, if you hit Okinawa you’d be able to catch theirs in Jan/Feb. Domestic flights are dirt cheap w/in Japan.
