I’ve had a few Chase INK cards over the years, and have recently added two more to my portfolio. Previously all my INK applications have been for a business which is under my SSN. I still hold two INK cards for that business. Back in June, I applied for another INK Unlimited card for a business which operates under a separate EIN.
I applied using a friend’s referral link to get them the 20,000 points bonus, and I received the 75,000 points signup bonus. When the INK cards signup bonus increased to 90,000Â Chase was willing to give me a bonus match of an additional 15,000 points, despite my card having already been open for almost 4 months. Pleasant surprise.
In November I tossed in another application for the no-fee INK Cash card which also has the 90,000 bonus. Neither of my applications were instantly approved, and both were automatically approved after a number of days of waiting.
I’ll close out the older INK cards to clean out my credit card binder, and maybe at some point in the future I’ll get another INK card under my SSN. If only we had Pay Yourself Back 1.5% redemption still available to use up all the points…
At the end of December, Chase temporarily made it easier for some people to get approved for the line of INK cards. That window is gone, but the 90,000 offers are still around for anyone interested in trying. Please help a fellow reader by using their referral link, if you don’t have a friend with a referral.
I had no intention to apply (my score is down by a hefty 100 + points in recent times – down to early 7s due to getting a lot of recent 0% balance transfers with credit utilization near 100% on some cards, 4/24, none of Chase cards maxed though) but the comments here made me apply anyway 🙂
Already have ink and ink unlimited and recently closed an ink preferred. Went for one more ink business…referred by P2. Worst case can do the Staples V/MGC deals and/or 7-11 to make the spend. Approved with low 3.5K limit. Now will have to call to get some credit line transferred from other ink.
I previously applied and got denied for Number of recently opened accounts on credit report, Is this the same reason as 5/24?
Oof, you snooze, you loose on the referral thread! Congrats on your shiny new pair of inks, Chuck!
Silly question: I just got approved for my second CIU today, but the purchase APR for the card showing on my Chase Business account is not showing as 0%. Does this indicate that they are not going to give me the SUB?
It will show later. Your account is still getting set up.
Yep, you’re right. 0% purchase APR and bonus widget are now showing.
Zindella How many days did it take to show. up the APR and bonus tracker?
I was initially denied for 3 different reasons but called recon and got the application approved by answering a few simple questions about my business.
Does anyone know what the referral amount for referring someone for Ink card? Is is $100 or $200 ? thanks
“I applied using a friend’s referral link to get them the 20,000 points bonus”
My offer is 20,000, up to 5 for the year. I believe that’s the same for everyone.
Chuck thanks for confirming. I was misreading the numbers, it says 100,000 total and I read that as 10,000 for one referral. My bad
My DP. Hovering at 4/24 in 2022. During that time:
May 2022 – CIC: 75k bonus, in Nov I requested they match the new 90k offer, rejected
Sept 2022 – CIU: 75k bonus, in Nov I requested they match the new 90k offer, approved
Dec 2022 – CIC (2nd): working on the spend for the 90k bonus
For all of these I applied as sole prop (in California), 0 years in business, $1k annual revenue. Never instant approved (but nor have I been for any Chase cards), never received any email or phone communication. Always nervous. But then the new card always appears in my online Chase business account within a few days of applying and arrives in the mail a week after that.
The only thing I’m unclear about is whether I should start requesting Chase reduce the amount of credit on some of my personal cards before applying for more cards? I’ve got like 100k in credit across my 5 most recently opened personal cards, but then my biz cards are only ever 3-4k credit lines.
No. Get the new card, review what credit they gave you and then call to move credit for the cards to your liking. One of the metrics for credit scores is percent credit utilization, so that would affect your credit score. Maybe just a little, but I can’t see any upside to reducing credit (I’m sure there are some exceptions).
Agree about the percent credit utilization’s effect on credit score, but I thought I’d read somewhere that Chase will eventually decide they’ve extended you as much total credit as they are willing, and will deny new cards for that reason, forcing you to call recon and then request credit to be moved, before being approved for a new card. I’ve so far survived without having to call recon so trying to find proactive ways to avoid that, out of cowardice, haha.
Do you open each of them with different business names? And also do you make new online account logins for each of them?
NP - Good DPs No nothing like that. I apply with the exact same information each time. All are under my same account / login.
I’m so jealous, I got denied for the INK unlimited on 30-Dec-2023, the underwrite rep told me it was because I had opened 5 personal cards in the pass 24 months, yes, a chase rep acknowledge the existences of 5/24. She also so told me that I was close to being qualified. I will be 4/24 at the end of February.
2022* and there are rumors the promotion will be active through February.
IIRC there is/was no limitation in regard to holding multiples of the same card under you SSN if you’re a Sole Proprietorship. So applying under a different EIN isn’t necessary.
Are people applying to more than 1 of the same ink within 24 months with same SSN?
Isn’t there verbiage on the bottom of the application that says “The new Cardmember bonus offer is only available if I do not have this card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months”?
I have the same question.
“If we suspect that you’ve engaged in fraudulent activity related to your credit card account or Ultimate Rewards, or that you’ve misused Ultimate Rewards in any way (for example by … repeatedly opening or otherwise maintaining credit card accounts for the sole purpose of generating rewards) we may temporarily prohibit you from earning points or using points you’ve already earned. If we believe you’ve engaged in any of these acts, we’ll close your credit card account. “
Yes. I know of three people that have 2x CIC within 12 months of the first. That language has always been there, never enforced.
But better to stay under the radar, ya?
Ok I know everyone mentions that there is no limit for ink cards. I personally have gotten 2 of each (excluding Premier), 6 total, 3 of them cancelled. Are there DP’s for how many people have ever opened? I feel like I’m getting to the point where I may be pushing it.
I’ve had 4 open.
4 of each at once?
I believe it may be a velocity issue that gets people flagged rather than cards held within a lifetime.
I have one of each INK card now after a recent approval. Unfortunately it was the higher spend Business Preferred, because I didn’t want to risk duplicating one I already had.
I wasn’t aware I could get two of the SAME INK cards? Do you have two of each using the same business/SSN? Or do you have two because you used an EIN for one?
All 3 under the same SSN. 😉
