(Update) Bank of America Better Balance Rewards Cards Being Converted

(Update 9/15/23: The $20 credits posted today)

Bank of America has announced that the Better Balance Rewards Card is being discontinued and will be forcibly converted to Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards World Mastercard credit card on May 16, 2023. Bank of America sent out the following letter:

We want to let you know that your Better Balance Rewards credit card will become a Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards World Mastercard credit card because the Better Balance Rewards® program is being discontinued.

What this means to you

After May 16, we’ll mail you a new Bank of America® Unlimited Cash Rewards credit card to replace your existing card. Continue using your existing card until your new card arrives and remember to destroy your existing card once you activate the new one.

Your last Better Balance Rewards Quarterly Cash Reward will be paid in April; however, if your account is open and you continue to make qualifying payments from April 1 through May 15, we will reward you with a one-time statement credit of $20.

Yes, but there might be a cooldown period if you just converted from the BBR.

I was able to convert them couple of months back to CCR and got the 20$ credit as well. It took a few tries to get the cards converted. I was told that I am not eligible. But after a few tries was able to convert.

I did not receive. Called and was initially told that she couldn’t find evidence I was eligible and she had to check notes on the account. Eventually said I was eligible and I’d receive $20 by September 30th. I assume she’s lying, but I guess I have to wait 2 weeks to see.

Lil Ol Me It’s not a deposit to checking account. It got credited as negative balance on the credit card. Check your credit card. I got it today as well. Shows (-20) credit

I understand… I was expecting a statement credit. I didn’t receive it (I checked my account) and was told I’d get it by Sep 30. It’s also possible that she just didn’t want to admit they screwed up, so she put in a request for the money and told me b to wait 2 weeks and then pretended nothing went wrong.

Lil Ol Me – Do you know when you received the actual card because if you rad the March 15, 2023 letter where they tell you the BBR is converting to the UCR, where it mentions the $20, footnote 5 mentions the 16 weeks counts from receipt of the UCR. The letter mentions new cards will be sent beginning May 16, 2023 which means the chances of anyone receiving the card on May 16, 2023 is slim as there are two BBR accounts here and both arrived on the same day on May 26, 2023 which meant September 15, 2023. In my case, one card was already activated upon receipt as it did not have the activation sticker so if you received or activated the card after May 26, 2023, that means it isn’t even 16 weeks yet. What you should ask is when was the activation date for the card and calculate the 16 weeks from there as I have noticed with BofA or any other card company, they do not really know the date of the 16 weeks and only giving you some number that is not even in the computer as I received a Business BofA Credit card for example which had a 90 day bonus offer and they told me even pending counts when the terms says it has to be posted within 90 days from account opening date.

Good Cow, Whether its hard to read or not is not important. My computer is already lagging as is when typing that I can’t even see a cursor showing the current position when I type this. And I am only trying to help so I have no obligation whatsoever to type in the way you please as I am not paid to be perfect when responding. And who made you the grammar police. Learn proper netiquette which is the standard rules for online communications at coursedesign.colostate.edu/obj/corerulesnet.html and don’t post one liners or useless comments.

The point is it is 16 weeks from receiving the card if you read footnote 5 on the March 15, 2023 letter. It’s not 16 weeks from the card conversion date. The same letter also mentions they will not begin sending the cards out until May 16, 2023. So unless you received the card on May 16, 2023, it would not have been 16 weeks yet as September 14, 2023 is basically a May 25, 2023 date of receiving the card.

I was a little perplexed to see Good Cow write that about you when they didn’t capitalize properly in their comment.

I got mine today as well, as a credit card statement vs a deposit into my checking account.
